When i was young i thought that there were mainly two types of shoes : casual and dress (excluding work shoes, etc).

Casual shoes were stuff like sneakers that you wore for everything outside of work, like hanging out with friends.

Dress shoes were meant for formal events and the office.

But i noticed there are a lot of dressy shoes that are not formal enough for the office (tan brogues for example) and yet they seem too dressy for casual occasions. I cant imagine going to uni or doing shopping in tan brogues for example.

So where/when do you wear those?

I almost never see people wear navy suits in the first place, it seems really hard to pull off. Everyone seems to just wears black or gray.

Black is a somber or formal color suitable for fancy nighttime events and funerals. Navy is the most versatile suit color followed by charcoal. They're appropriate at a wide range of events from daytime meetings to semi-formal evenings.

One on the right looks like a black suit. But the shoes seem to clash with it. My eyes are drawn to his shoe because of the color, which shouldnt be happening.

Left is terrible. Excluding the ty hard gloves, hes wearing what looks like a dotted bright red tie with a navy suit, which is a huge no-no. The tan shoes hes wearing also stands out a lot from the rest of his clothes.
