Because boots are the epitome of masculine footwear. Now obviously there's a massive difference between Red Wings Heritage and Clark's DBs. I still have a pair of Chukka's I got when I first learned about /fa/ and copped the fuccboi uniform, and they're easily the most complimented pair of shoes I own (qt's, relatives, and some random guy at Starbucks one time). Boots are nice and safe, yet a step (or 2) above normal footwear that people who don't give a shit about how they dress look (and the grills notice it).
