Aren't trends the only true /fa/ things? Half the threads on here deal with fits that aren't even worn by normal people. If you really want to be popular and fashionable, you have to follow mainstream media, otherwise you seem like a tryhard faggot.

That is pretty good. It is a lot of hard work to create a popular thread, and requires quite a bit of background knowledge on the subject, as well as an understanding of modern internet culture. You need to create a captivating topic that appeals to a broad range of posters, while not diverging into something too complex or using any outdated memes.

I'm on sleeping pills about to nod off, so in short - you're not far off. Most creative endeavors are a part of a wave, a movement on a timeline. Art, philosophy, design in all it's forms are all affected by trends and this is not a bad thing. Surrealism, existentialism, hell even geeky things like flat ui in current web design are all trends. There are people who spearhead these movements but they are still firmly locked in time and come to prominence as part of a 'trend'. if you are creative, you move through and react to these waves of creativity. so yes, fashion = trends, but the mainstream thing, not so much. good for consumers but not creators or patricians
