WP 8.1 is pretty cool; adds some important features. Currently rocking it on my lumia 630, which is -very- good for a phone that cheap, performance-wise and design-wise, even setting aside my general dislike for android, you just won't get an android phone that will look and work as well as the lower-shelf lumias for the same price.

Lumia is pretty /fa, unless you want to use it as a smartphone, it lacks a lot of useful apps. I'd say Xperia Z2, or Moto X with wooden back housing, looks /fa as hell.

Honestly, iPhone 5 with iOS 6 is the most /fa/

HTC = God Tier build quality, and looks good. (I own a nexus 5 tho)
Might be getting a little old though.
Moto X is next best choice for a high end smartphone out of that list, arguably one of the best smart phones of its generation so far.
Do not cop Samsung. Shit company with shit quality and a shitty UI.
Nexus 5 is pretty good, though. If you wanna save money it is an awesome choice, and looks great.

HTC One: great build quality and looks nice, but old.
Moto X: An overall great choice, equal to the One but has cooler features.
Nexus 5: Best value out of the bunch
Samsung: shit, the Walmart of phones
iPhone: I mean if you like it get it but you are pretty limited in what you can do with it.

and why is iphone LELE exactly? no lag, works like swiss watches, clean look, my old iphone 4 has survived a lot of shit, I dropped it into a fucking puddle in asphalt, then threw it in anger against the floor and wall because it wouldnt turn on and I thought it died, went to charge it - voila, it works, no scratches, nothing.

I do appreciate that it is clean and works, but the limitation is that all it does is works. Customization is nerfed into the wall.
As far as build quality, that is why I recommend HTC all the time. My nexus one was beat to shit so much that after my first one gave out (even after surviving being submerged in water) I bought another HTC Nexus One because I loved it so much.

I think it is personal taste. I haven't used the HTC One M8, but I trust HTC as a company for having good quality.
On the other hand, Moto X has a very clean stock android experience with some nice features built in and has an AMOLED screen, so blacks look better and you will probably have a few hours better of battery life compared to the others. Really, both are some of the best phones on the market, just depends in what you look for in a phone.
