Is there such a thing as alternative suits?

I got a wide selection of classic suits, ranging from simple Hugo Boss Red Label up to Dior Homme Hedi Slimane era suits, but I found myself wondering: Is there such a thing as "alternative suits", meaning something you could wear at an office or in a courtroom but still doesn't look like a "normal" suit?

I tried Sruli but didn't find anything suitable (except for some nice coats which would look great over a good suit, pic related) and then Yohji, but his suits just give off a hobo chic flair which would be unsuitable for a professional lawyer.

but Rick's blazers/suits aren't very avant-garde to be honest, pic related.

Julius goes more in the right direction (I'll post a picture in a sec), still it seems like no one is focusing on developing the classic suit further

Look into Devoa's suiting. Perhaps still too alternative though(?)
Ya boi Daisuke has done great wool coats too.

The best suggestion I can think of is probably Carol; plenty of stuff that isn't too wild but still interesting. There's a really 'dressy' air (for lack of a better word) to a lot of his body of work that would fit the bill I think.

what a great piece. I love Srulis work, although most of the time it's more something I'd put in a glass casing in the middle of my flat instead of actually wearing it.

pic related, this was more than 50% off like half a year ago and I almost bought it, then decided against it because at the same time there was an YSL sale at gilt.
still, i sometimes think about it.

thank you for your recommendations, I'll look right through them and keep posting here what I like.

I do, too. Might have to reconsider my stance on Valentino, not been a big fan until now. You can find that Blazer on farfetch, in case you're interested.

This is Lanvin. I like it a lot, double breasted blazers have almost vanished from business culture, at least with those <50. This modern cut might work, though.

The significant advantage w/ Devoa is the anatomic tailoring, on just about the opposite end of the comfort spectrum to CCP.

it really depends on your office. In my current law firm, I'd probably not dare to go in with a mandarin collared suit, but I love the idea of it. In some more forward-thinking offices, it might be a possibility.

You misunderstood what I said.
The ra278 tumblr was run by a guy called Oskar from Sweden or s/t. He was selling the remainder of past stock left in Iceland, on behalf of Sruli.
This mustn't have worked out though; at the start of this year Sruli sold the rest of that stock to Darklands Berlin, where they have it for sale now as a backstock.

When he started out he took deposits before sending anything out. He also observes Sabbath so doesn't answer work emails over the weekend; so there's been a few times where people have worried that they'd been scammed.
Really the bulk of the negativity towards him is just misdirected negativity towards SZ. Faust systematically banning everyone who spoke ill of his work is representative of everything wrong with the SZ approach.

Seeing as he does patterning digitally I'd assume they still have the file around, but you might have to compromise on fabric if they take the commission on.
