I hate how people clump raf and rick together. They are completely different designers and I have no doubt that you could make a good fit with pieces from each. But holy shit they are so different, why do people associate them together (other than asap)

what's ^ if not a joke? I agree with you, though - rick and raf don't clash in many areas, and they can work well together. However, that's not to say that they're a natural couple in anything except popularity. RICK OWENS RAF SIMONS is a joke because it refers to their popularity rather than to any actual synergies.

It was my mistake to use the phrase 'go together' - rick and raf do 'go together' in the same way many designers can 'go together'. I meant that they're not massively stylistically similar (even old-raf complements rick rather than being 'like' rick) except for the sportswear influences which tons of brands have.

rick owens and raf simons are completely different designers with only very vague and occasional conceptual crossover (read: fetishization of youth cultures and rebellion) and zero aesthetic mutuality beyond 'i can wear these plain jeans by raf simons with this plain t shirt from rick owens and these plain shoes from raf simons'
only three posters on this board have even a modicum of knowledge about either designer so a thread like this isn't a surprise
