Black, male, and I want long hair. What are good styles?

I tried cornrows last summer but my scalp is too sensitive. It felt like an awful, constantly burning headache sensation and I'm surprised I lasted 2 weeks.

Dreadlocks are cool but a lot of work to create and I can't wear hats. A large afro is too hard to maintain; I can barely maintain a medium sized one

texlax your hair for this

>> No.8317997

Flat twists, like cornrows without the tension and be patient; don't leave your hair out everyday, protective styling is a must for length retention.

I suggest looking up no comb method, no poo, and co-washing.

I literally had my hair in two strand twists for 3 years and then had my fro out nearly everyday for another 2 before hacking it off.

Oh and get a satin pillowcase, cotton is hell for our hair.

Texlaxing does not give you that, really texlaxing is useful mostly for those who straighten with heat or curlformers

Also texlaxing on short hair especially on a man is ugly ass fuck and not /Fa/

what would texlaxing 8inch hair give you then?

Basically this

I'd wait until 10-12inches; texlax and then focus on braid/Bantu knot outs

Seriously, Bantu knot out your hair the fuck out. Its be unique and you could cut your hair in a decent way.

Remember to stretch between processes (longer the better) with longer hair you can get away with more

these black hair threads always seem to pop up so i wanna ask:

anybody have any other, better sites they go to for this stuff? would probably help a lot of us out since we're resorting to 4chan for advice

You said cornrows give you issues so I suggest doing flat twists like pic; if and when you tired of those Bantu knot outs are great.

Youtube for videos, there are a dozen or so popular natural hair sites you can go on. Curly Nikki is great.

I mean you might have to do trial and error; I had natural hair 7 years ago before it was popular in a small town with few black folks. You might look a mess but once you learn what your hair likes and dislikes you will go far.

Yeah, Curly Nikki and Naturally Curly are good. I mostly use Youtube though

Flat iron your hair when it gets to 10+ inches in length; Bantu knot it; take down in the morning; can the side in a swooping motion back and up; headband/scarf it.

so i just flat iron my natural hair? no relaxing involved beforehand?

>> No.8320172

I mean relaxers should never straighten your hair by more than 70%; if you do it anymore it will break down the proteins too much and lead to major breakage, the heat only worsens it.
