why are all denim jackets so short?
admittedly, most clothes are short on me because I'm 6'2, but I can at least find a long fit in most things. denim jackets are just outrageously short, can anyone direct me to a decently long one?
also, >tall clothes general

Can I wear a denim jacket with jeans? Or does that look bad?

You can wear anything with anything, so long as you keep things like color, texture, contrast, proportion, etc. in mind.

Most denim jackets nowadays harken back to the Type One, Two, and Three models that Levi's released in the 1900s. As with much of early Levi's that wasn't fashion centered, a lot of design choices were chosen for their utility. You could probably find more info at Levi's own actual archive (but that's usually only accessible only to costume historians and other academics). From the time period and the styling, I'd guess that the shorter length has a lot to do with wanting the jacket to be out of your way as you worked; compare it to the skirted, longer length of a tailored jacket and the trucker seems like a much less fussy, more practical option.

I bought M and my chest is 44 and waist is 33. I wear a gap large tee.

Because they are jackets.
Jackets reach your beltline, but don't go lower like coats do.

You can. The colors must either be apparently different, or identical (although the latter is difficult to pull off and you'd have to be pretty bold and confident to do the denim suit thing).

If the colors are sort of alike, but slightly different, it'll look bad most of the time.

Yeah, I wear my commuter trucker with the black commuter jeans.

I'm the same height and I have a L commuter jacket. No access to measuring tape at the moment, but it sits about halfway down my zipper. I do have a slightly shorter torso than average, though.

Isn't it too big? I wanted mine to fit slim and look at my measurements.

>> No.8317862

Eh, I'm slim with broadish shoulders and it isn't too bad, since there's adjustable tabs on the hem. It's also one of my only jackets, denim or otherwise, with long enough sleeves

Yeah, my sleeves are long enough, but mine is nearly this tight.

>> No.8318206

man, it's even harder to find ANY jacket that fits right when you're wide.
i don't even mean fat, i mean i have shoulders like a fucking dragonball z character and then a normal sized torso, if i don't get shit tailored it's WAY too big around my middle even if it barely fits my shoulders and chest. shit sux.
