I'm really sorry I went to go make myself lunch after creating this thread, and I completely forgot about this thread when I came back. I feel like such an idiot I completely abandoned the thread.

My girlfriend is a modest woman she's 29 and she works with kids every day. She's got a real bubbly personality and likes brighter colors but I could definitely see her wearing more muted colors. She really likes dresses but at the moment she wears pleb shit like yoga pants with boots and shit. She has come to me asking for advice. I'll post a few pictures that she has saved and enjoyed, and hopefully you guys can suggest things off of these outfits.

she would want to pick out her own clothes, but she needs advice and a few guidelines. She's aware that I've done research on shit like color theory, silhouettes and how things should fit etc so she just needs a few outfits and inspiration.

Here's an outfit she picked out and really liked. I find the necklace to be atrocious but that's obviously something that can be changed.

For mobility (i.e. having to work with children), boxier shapes like tunics and leggings and even shifts that can be worn belted/unbelted would probably be a smart, practical choice for her. Posting some looks or brands she wears/admires would be very helpful for helping you and her.

Machine washability is also probably an important thing to keep in mind for her given, what I assume, are relatively rough conditions that her clothing experiences.

Simple, flattering silhouettes in bold colors will go a long way for her, but the key is to pick a color that's bright, but feels sophisticated and can be dressed up or down as needed. Maximizing the utility of garments for someone who is refreshing their wardrobe should be one of your top priorities.

In general, these very "precious" styles are not going to read well on a woman of her age. She's going to have to accept the fact that lace trim on a boat neckline is just NOT something that looks smart or sophisticated on a woman who is nearly 30.

The idea of a borrowed-from-the-boys jacket over a feminine dress is super doable, though, and she should definitely feel free to try it out. She doesn't have to stick to dark neutrals and mannish patterns, but you can see the difference in execution between that photo and this one.

let's discuss this outfit that she picked out and isn't too different from the stuff she normally wears. I'm not too experienced in the fashion world but I do know that if you wear capris, it's better to have them a bit higher than the one's here. I'm also not a big fan of most of the accessories here but I do like the watch.

Well, the matchy-match jewelry is a big "no". I don't mind the heavy-handed accessorizing if that Hampton-y, rich white lady vibe is what she enjoys. If anything, with the nice coral shades, a bit of blue or green or even a bold turquoise ring or something would stand out much more than all the matching peach/orange tones.

For the length, I think it's fine and the choice of a flat is much better and younger than a low heel or anything, but a slip on loafer or a menswear-inspired oxford would instantly modernize the look and make it feel less generic, less Banana Republic-y.

>>8316745

This isn't awful (very LA, Miami), but is it something she would actually wear on a day to day basis? Perhaps a poncho or swing top would be great, but she might want to do it with a pant instead of throwing it over a dress/skirt.

Yeah, she does enjoy looking like a rich white lady that is for sure. Good advice, I do agree that the accessories are too matchy matchy however, I almost commented on that but I wasn't completely sure.

As for the other outfit, this definitely wouldn't be for everyday, but one thing is that we live in Illinois so the winters are harsh so that is another crucial detail I left out. The thing is, it's summer time right now so that's not really a factor, and we plan to move to Texas in a couple years so there's another factor.

To me, besides getting to fuck the same girl over and over, it's pretty nice having a friend you can trust and talk about whatever is on your mind without feeling judged or feeling like they might not want to be your friend anymore, it's cool to have somebody just actually know you, maybe even more than you know yourself. She has really poor taste but she dresses like a standard girl/woman Its so fucking matchy it hurts to look at. Matching only means they match, it doesn't mean it looks good.

She needs to learn the basics. The most important part ( the fit) she is fine with because most women know how to buy clothing that fits. What she really needs to learn is what looks good together. Women often buy clothing for an outfit, which is a huge mistake. Buying specific outfits to wear is basically buying costumes. She bought those pants and necklace for that specific outfit and probably never wear them any other time.

My philosophy is to have about 85% of my wardrobe basics that work with everything. The next 15% is something a bit more interesting (such as a floral button up) but still pretty versatile.

Look at >>8316463
Blue jeans, white shirt, black shoes, and the sunglasses are pretty basic and versatile. She could wear them with just about color or piece of clothing you can think of. The jacket on top is the something interesting, but its still pretty basic.

Either way, being /fa/ is not possible, but dressing well and looking nice is. You can't pull off the same styles, but you aren't a lost cause. The same rules apply. I'd say the most important is the fit. Well fitted ugly clothes will always look better than fancy ill fitting clothes.

Heres /r/mfa's chubby guys inspo. Most dudes (not all) have the basics of fit and taste/ color choices down really well.

I'm sure she'll catch on fast. Most womens sort of follow a different set of rules established by f21 and 17 magazine. They aren't too different than what we look for, but some aspects such as buying outfits and matching colors are completely tacky.

Looking at examples really helps. I don't follow womens fashion very much since I have a dick, but the /r/fma wiki has some really nice inspo. Even browsing /fa/ and /r/mfa or sufu of whatever will expose her to what looks nice and works well.
