You do realize that models are "size 0" because models are, in lay, oddfaced, living clothing racks? They're meant to be cookie cutter and be able to fit the clothing provided.

It isn't about the beauty of the body, it's about showing the clothes the best way possible. A bigger body is distracting from the clothing and has A LOT of variation when it comes to measurements.

I wear a size 8-10 pants, but my BMI is the lower end of normal. Although I'm tall, my hip bones are very wide, and will never fit in a size 0. Many petite girls do naturally fit size 0, and would be overweight if they were size 6-8.

I also don't know why you're bitching about a girl's weight, but not the expectations of height. The average height in america for a woman is 5'4. The average height of a model is around 5'10. Why not complain of those unattainable measurements?

Fashion models aren't meant to be looked up to as the pinnacle of what's an attractive body, anyways. They're meant to have an interesting face and show off the clothing. It's difficult to focus on clothing or make the clothes when bigger models have many different body types.

Well first off, models aren't setting the standards of what women think they should look like or think men want. Pretty sure most men (especially off of /fa/) are not attracted to the majority of models.

I wish they were though, because I find promoting being skinny to be the healthiest body image for women. The thing about the whole "real women have curves" movement is that most those women don't have curves, and even if they do, there is no real way to attain that. If you are a fat or out of shape girl, through exercise and diet you can eventually be skinny. But you can never make your hips bigger or specifically put weight in your tits or ass. Women can work to be skinny, but can not work to be truly curvy if they are not. I think that's why we should encourage leading a fit and healthy lifestyle instead, because it's attainable and not fat.
