that was a bad idea. They were made for people with a ton of disposable income. You're gonna wear through them in like a month and then you wasted 400 dollars on a pair of shoes when you could have bought some vans for 40.

/fa/, i think this would be relevant in a CP thread.
i'm starting my summer job soon, and i need to make a lot of purchases. i need some black skinnies from acne, and i need some washed blue jeans for the summer too, plus i really, really need to cop decent tees, since all of mine are h&m shit from high school.

however, on top of all of this, i need shoes. bad. i don't have any sneakers except some ugly converse and i'm probably going to destroy those over the summer. i'm asking you this: should i go in for CPs, or should I just cheese it and buy some AF1s as my white sneaker for now

AF1s aren't really my thing, but they're also actually affordable, and would free up room in my budget for tees- which, again, i need desperately this summer as i transition out of mfacore ocbd-every-day shit.

tl;dr if you didn't have any sneakers at all and you were sort of broke would you buy AF1s to fill in the gap or would you tough it out and save up and strain your budget for CPs

CPs are TTS. I'm a 10.5 true, so depending on the shoe and brand I'm either a 43 or 44 if they don't have half sizes. For example my Common Projects track shoes are 44s because they fit small, while in my lows I'm a 43. I'm a 10.5 in my Nike Flyknits.

and because I'm bored here's another shot. These are really hard to photograph in my house. The soles on these are aging a little quicker than the achilles. They are a different manufacturer, much softer rubber - makes for a more flexible sportier shoe, presumably for running (although you'd have to be insane to want to run in these as they are very stiff and heavy). The mesh leather is neat, but the suede is not aging well. I miss this design. The new variation of track shoes are a lot more slick, less NB-y.

Levi's, CM, Unbranded, April 77, Lee or summin I mean there are loads of pretty good denim brands, just look some up and find a pair that you like. I recommend copping some chinos for summer, Carhartt's Sid pant have a very nice fit.

Decide which ones you like more and would fit your style. If you really want the expensive ones maybe don't spend loads on your other pieces.

I also recommend saving some of the money you get from your job instead of spending it all at once on muh fashionz, keep some money aside to go to a festival or something.

i already have the jeans and tees lined up pretty much, i've scoped out some good bnwt shit on Grailed and i'll probably just cop a handful of uniqlo and AA tees and then maybe treat myself if i can find a raf tee or something at a decent price

the shoes are really the only object i'm uncertain of, here. i guess it'd make more sense to save for CPs though, since AF1s aren't my thing, so at least that part of the advice helps. thanks i guess

Don't let /fa/ dictate what you wear m8, that said, black jeans are a pretty staple piece so go for it.

Uniqlo and AA is a good shout for basic tees, I wouldn't bother with designer stuff with tees because the price will be inflated a ludicrous degree, but if you really really like whatever they've put on the tee then it's up to you.

Yeah save up if you really want the CPs I guess. Check out Erik Schedin as well if you want basically the same shoe without the numbers.

if you're just starting out, decide what YOU want
do you really want AF1s? they're a chunky white basketball shoe. I love em but they're not the end all be all, plus the leathers are hot in summer.
As for CPs, I'd recommend buying used or secondhand if you've never handled them before, you can get them for a fraction of the price in semi-worn/nearly new condition. Plus if you don't like em you can usually sell for what you paid.
but there are a lot of other sneakers out there, like ETQ, Feit, Schmid, or Greats (fwiw i'm selling a new pair of Greats in 44, pic related) that are similar in quality, or at least more affordable and decent quality. It's worth looking around a lot before you get set on a certain style.

Objectively: The whites sell out frequently at full price, so that price is pretty solid.

Honestly though, the other colors you can find sitting for awhile at as low as sub-200 when sales hit.

people with €300 to spend are people who spend €300 on sneakers - people with €1300 to spend on sneakers will do so. Until you grasp the concept of luxury (which isn't necessarily synonymous with inflated cost) you'll continue to be dumbfounded. People buy CPs because they have the money to do so and because they appreciate the silhouette/construction/hype. people buy them even buy them on sale or used for much less.
>what's wrong with vans and etnies
nothing; however, they don't provide comparable silhouette/quality control/materials/etc. as CPs. Personally, I've never seen an attractive Etnies sneaker and though I like pieces from the Vans Vault collection (like the $300 Vans in pic related), the Vans brand doesn't deliver a similar product. Some from the OTW line looks similar, but after handling the Ludlows I can confirm that they're far inferior to CPs

>> No.8273904

>>8273746
>what makes one brand more /fa/ than another?
generally whatever the majority of posters find most appealing becomes /fa/. Who cares what is and isn't /fa/? I recommend you look beyond whatever /fa/ approves. If you like your €36 skinnies, congrats. Stop worrying so much about trying to conform to the masses.
>Why are Acne jeans so pricey?
when you buy a pair of Acne jeans from a retailer you're paying for the costs of: designing, retailing, testing, modeling, promoting, sampling, etc. etc. everyone down the line, from the person who first sketches the silhouette, to the person who runs the manufacturing plant/factory/etc, to the sales associates employed buy the retailer receive a cut from each pair of pants.
Now, why do the Aces cost €200 more than your skinnies?
Because you're buying into the cut (every pair of jeans, even Walmart and Target Wranglers has a specific cut designed for the jeans), the material, quality control, stitching, accessories (buttons, zippers, etc), and most importantly, the hype. These things all inform the price of the product.
If you mature and do research into products and manufacturing, etc. you will find this out yourself.
There's your constructive argument, I'm excitedly awaiting your response

Should I not size down a shoe on margom sole (CPs, Raf Velcros etc), if I am going to use orthopedic insoles?

>> No.8273980

>>8273963

You shouldn't size down to begin with. They are TTS. If anything size up a half size if you can if you're going to use an insole. However, If you're a half size true (eg I am a 10.5/43.5) then size down to a 43 in CPs as they will stretch, if you're going to use an insole, size up to a 44.

Man I OWN three pairs, amongst many other shoes of comparable sizing.
I'm curious to know what brands you think make TTS.

>> No.8274041

>>8274013
Well, I cannot say they are TTS because they all fit odd. I wear half size (40.5, 26.5 cm foot), 40 feels too tight, 41 is ridiculously loose. Some of CP sneakers in 40 fit nearly perfect, some in 41 nearly perfect. That is ridiculous, and I guess it is their production to blame, but not their sizing.
Anyway, I am not going to buy exactly CPs, but another shoe on margom sole. And I tried that shoe too, 41 was a bit loose, had no option to try in 40. I guess 41 with orthopedic insole would be just right.
Two boutique assistants told me that CPs are really not a shoe to fit everybody due to their construction.
And I still don't believe you, since you may be trolling.

>> No.8274058

>Caring for white leather

Buy some white or transparent shoe cream (from a high quality brand please, not that kiwi shit. nothing with silicone in it) and apply with a cloth every now and then, every 2 weeks maybe.

Apply less often if you want them to get beat up. Also having you sneakers look beat up does NOT mean you should let the leather get damaged beyond repair. Just don't sweat the scuff marks and all that.

Use shoe trees to maintain the shape if you want, again they'll look less beat up overtime if you use shoe trees but I don't think it would hurt to get a pair either way.
