Just the act of going outside opens up so many more possibilities than sitting in your bedroom.

Example: Today I went out to get some coffee. The place I went to get the coffee is great, but it's a subway ride away from my house. I sat on the subway and people watched. Then I walk to the coffee place and had a few americanos; smoked a couple cigarettes. Then this guy comes up to me to bum a cig, and we start talking. Turns out he's been living in China for the last four years working as a biochemical engineer or something. We had a great conversation about international politics and the pharmaceutical industry. When I was done with my coffee we parted ways. But now I'm a little bit more informed and have some cool new stuff to think about. None of that could've happened if I didn't leave my house today, even though I had nothing to do.
