Why do most messenger backpacks have two straps you have to unbuckle? Isn't messenger stuff all about speed?

Why do the ones that just have one depart from that?

Also, anyone know a bag that's A) capable of doing the book-sandwich-passport thing when it's too hot for a jacket and B) won't look out of place either at a meeting or a club?

I can vouch for it being waterproof.
Walked in the rain to my bus stop yesterday because I didn't have an umbrella and instead used my bag to keep my head dry.
The rain just rolled off and the interior was bone dry.

I'm shilling mad crazy for this bag. I mean shit it's $65, made with 1000d cordura, built to take some heavy punishment, and if it does break they'll repair or replace it for free. Those kind of things are rare for a bag in that price point.

Because a wide strip of heavy duty nylon is just not going to break under anything resembling halfway normal use? Even one of the thin strips, like on the Sanction, isn't going to break.

OTOH, it adds time and complication to opening it. Why not keep things simple? Bags are a PITA enough already.

Kind of a weird question, but does anyone have recs for instrument bags/cases? I need to buy one for a b flat clarinet but I'd like something that looks good or has some nice carrying options. I wasn't sure if I should just buy a case and then get a carrying bag for it or a case that's a combination, like this one.

It also enables things to get in easier from the sides, unless we're talking a roll-top.
Two is better than one, especially since things like buckles and clasps like to break.

Whether stuff gets in on the sides or not is flap design, not where the buckles are.

As far as breaking - with good hardware, that seems almost as unlikely as the strap breaking, unless you epically overstuff it. And a single, stronger, less likely to fail buckle seems better than two smaller, weaker buckles you'd still have a problem with if one broke.

>> No.8238448

fold a piece of paper in half.
Put a piece of tape in the center, and see how you can bend the sides,

Now fold one with tape about a quarter of the way in from both sides or so.
Try it again.
