Why are a lot of the greatest fashion designer gay?

Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel)
Marc Jacobs (Louis Vuitton)
Christian Dior
Calvin Klein (bisexual but mostly leaning toward homosexuality)
Domenico Dolce and Steffano Gabbana (D&G)
Valentino
John Galliano (Christian Dior Haute Couture)
Gianni Versace (Versace)
Yves Saint Laurent
Jean-Paul Gaultier
Cristóbal Balenciaga
Giorgio Armani
Alexander McQueen

I know fashion is considered a metrosexual hobby, but not necessarily a gay one. Regardless of what it's considered though. Why are gay dudes so successful at it?

Do more women than men buy fashion products?

DO these women enjoy the idea that they're buying from men who have sex with other men?

What's going on here? Give me your theory /fa/

I'm not saying this is a negative thing either. I gotta admit it's nice to think how many women are on their high horse because of their inner fashionistas yet men are vastly superior when it comes to style.

>> No.8210125,1 [INTERNAL]

Whats the problem? are you gay?

Well I don't believe all fashionists are gay... they are just feminine, maybe because they're around women all day. These you mentioned are really gay? You sure?

People don't think of it when buying fashion. They think of how it is going to look.

An overwhelming amount of fashion designers are gay men.

Sometimes stereotypes are sometimes right. It's like asking why there's so many black rappers. Who knows what motivates anyone to do any profession.

pitching the idea that perhaps they have the cross-hemisphere connection of woman to arrange visual details while keeping the functional and aesthetic features of the big-picture in mind and, as gay men who've wanted to seem feminine since childhood, have had the interest in perusing fashion to drive them to those careers; but they're men so they can actually be taken seriously in the work place and actually get promoted in fashion industries to the ranks of people you might've heard of.

inb4 me a gay man and i have no reason to be biased.

Well, in order to be a good fashion designer, you have to be open-minded, ahead of the curve and just generally intelligent.
Obviously, people with these traits are also more likely to realise the not-so-black-and-white nature of sexuality, meaning they are prone to ignoring conventional, socially constructed sexual preferences.
Yes, I know it sounds like SJW bullshit, but it's what I honestly believe.

I actually see the reasoning here. I don't think it's the only justification, but someone who's already flouting socio-sexual convention would think it a trifle to flout design norms and try something new.
