opinions on supreme?

>> No.8196820

Above average quality clothing at decent prices (if you're not poor or if you buy at resale)

Mostly associated with hypebeast but still a brand that is relatively rare to see being rocked IRL.

Some gaudy designs but "fluid" for the most part.

Their fanbase gives them a bad name. Generally good quality items for their RETAIL prices. Resale is rape, don't every pay rape. Their items can be anywhere from dope as hell to ugly as sin.

The fit is great and the general shirt quality is really good too. The way people talk about supreme tees you would think that they are printed on hanes t shirts. The prints are pretty crappy though, I copped a box logo tee and you can see through the print plus it's off center and a little tilted.

I'm kinda torn about Supreme - I really like a lot of their aesthetic, but I don't own any of it, and I'm not sure if I want to, or should.

For one I'm a recent transplant to NYC that doesn't skate.

For two it's delirious fucked of them to sue MTTM, and I'm not sure if I can wear clothes from something Barbara Kruger called "a ridiculous clusterfuck of totally uncool jokers" and live with myself.

>>8196820
>still a brand that is relatively rare to see being rocked IRL.

It's very much the opposite inside New York. I might've seen a Supreme piece four or five times before I moved and now I see them all the time. I like that about it - how it's this crazy international hype sensation but at the same time still very local.

At present day, an uninspired skate and youth lifestyle brand focused on profit margin and maintaining their target audience.

>> No.8198321

as of 2014, complete hyped garbage. uninspired designs, shitty quality, pricepoints are ridiculous for what they're putting out, doesn't justify the quality of the garments at all.

supreme is running the route of all other fashion meme brands, been trill, hba, etc. buzzword brand. nobody cares what the piece looks like on them as long as they own a piece with the word on it. supreme is grouped with obey among unfashionable people, it gets the same reaction.

FW2010 was an excellent season. hell, all of 2010 was. everything after has gotten increasingly shitty. quantity went way up, accessibility went way up, obnoxious branding went way up. actual focus on the clothes and quality control is gone. the majority of the people who wear it are lame as fuck too. (if you take offense to that, you're who I'm referring to). I live in california, and I see that shit everywhere. all the terrible shitty hats or w/e they've designed that have zero resale value being rocked second or third hand by nerdy little kids.

if you're buying supreme for the quality (or even trying to justify it) I can't take you seriously. you're paying for the little red tag.

I had a great experience with supreme via reselling for a few years and have held onto some pieces.. and I'm still trying to track down one or two items even to this day. but supreme is dead. it's going to run the same way as bape, imo. having a supreme camp cap is like owning a piece of lv monogram for high school children.

if you're considering getting into it now, you're about 2-3 years too late at best. save yourself the money.

Streetwear-wise, I believe that if Norse or iloveugly branches out into the States (e.g. make a physical store here) it'll be more popular than Supreme.

I guess I can say that I still haven't fully gone through my Supreme obsession phase yet but I'm really only keeping what I want (e.g. Supreme x CDG 1 hoodie, a parka, and a shirt).

Brand is dying.

I love bape. all their original designs were amazing. sk8thing killed it, they had their niche filled so well, and it was truly a lifestyle brand, much like how supreme was. bape was king of the high streetwear bracket 6-10 years ago.

however the original owner had to sell it and the company that bought it keeps putting out bland overbranded rehashes of original designs season after season to try to milk every last dollar out of it. bape died a long time ago, and they're running it into the ground now. not to say that I don't still own/ want some old pieces, but it hasn't been the same in forever. soulless money machine.

If you ignore the hype, graphic shirts/tees, and shitty hats, the brand is very good quality, I have 2 jackets from them and they are excellent, especially for the price. Some people ruin the Image of the brand real hard.

I almost wish the brand would lose hype so it would be easier to actually buy the good pieces without having to go through some hispanic teenager who camps outside the store every week.
