Gonna get a lot of hate for this, but it really depends on the quality of the fakes and the look you're going for. If you cop fakes because you love "dat Rick Owens raf Simons label" you're just a fuccboi anyway. I'm not rich/wealthy by any means, but I would rather sit down and search for another piece in my range than buy a fake or "replica" of something that is not in my range. The nature of conspicuous consumption and brand image can often add to the "value" of a piece outside of the usual criteria of material, construction, and design, but what's the real endgame? Are you that interested in Rick Owens, or are you copping fake Geobaskets because they're cool on the internet?

I never get how I'll see /fa/ talk shit about stores "borrowing" from major designers (think Zara, H&M, All Saints, etc.) and then have some posters condone buying fakes. I understand that there's probably not significant overlap between the aforementioned posters, but it's very interesting to see how much the concept of "grails" can be detrimental to actual expression. You've all seen those goofy assholes that dress up in full Rick and think that they've made it because he's popular and his clothes are expensive, or the people that talk shit about anything conservative because "LOL MFA DADCORE".

Honest question. Why not just buy a shoe that has plenty of thoughtful design and fits your budget that isn't a copy? It's not a zero sum game and Geobaskets, real or otherwise, aren't the only option that will give you a similar look.
