Started when I was around 16, went and talked to my bank because had a few thousand lying around and learnt about inflation and realized how much of a ripoff savings accounts are. Bank advised mutual fund, later realized those were fullretard.jpg for the most part, switched to ETF's, which got me following the market somewhat, then I just did a whole bunch of research online which cumulated in a combination of an ETF and some individual investments which is where I am today (about 15k invested, make about 2k/yr, sometimes more).

You should talk to your bank and find out about student investing deals etc, if they don't have any, do it online. I would start with a really diverse ETF (again assuming you're student age like myself and can't afford much risk).

There are some great ebooks on thepiratebay if you have no knowledge at all. Doing a simulation online is also a good idea. The biggest mistake people make when starting is they go right for stocks without enough knowledge of the market to make good decisions.

The reason ETFs are good is because while stocks fluctuate, the market as a whole WILL increase in value in the long run (because of technology). Stocks follow supply and demand like no other, so for people to gain money others have to lose. If you aren't in the top half of investors intelligence-wise then you're probably going to lose money. At least that's how I think of it...

The thing that makes it scammy IMO, and how you know you're not providing any value to people, is that hardly anyone completes all the offers to get the free thing. Why would that be? Well, because the offers you have to complete and the hoops you have to jump through are such a pain that people give up halfway through. And then you know they're just going have their info sold around and get spammed to death. So it's basically making money off of wasting people's time and making them frustrated and annoyed. Just think about what you're putting out into the world, and realize that it has a ripple effect. You know, maybe that guy that cut you off in traffic was in a bad mood because he signed up for the offer you were promoting. Is anyone in this thread a java developer? Does anyone know how easy it would be for me to find an entry level java programming position if I complete intermediate certification over the summer? I have one interning experience, but the title is pretty great, assistant programmer at a college. I'm in my first year at college, I'm not doing great but I'm not doing poorly, but I can't see myself doing this. I'm exchanging to the other side of the US fall semester; what I plan to do is: become certified in java and maybe something else over the summer while working a shitty job, making some projects to present to employers, then spend one semester at my exchange college while also scouting for jobs, then leave college and work at an entry-level position while being mostly financially independent and advancing my coding prowess. Is this possible?

After one year of studying CS? If you put in a lot of effort into external projects then maybe. Open source projects look good on resumes when you are just coming out of college. It will set you apart especially if you can show what you did and if it is good.

From my experience java is not he way to go but it is a good building block. I would start looking into C++ or C#.

I'm a stupid idiot who didn't get to finish college.

I detail luxury cars at a dealership for a living, make amazing pay. Hard work but very laid back and I'm hanging with a friend.

Also work at a pet store stocking the store and changing the layout of the store, exhausting job but its extra money.

I work 6-7 days a week from 4AM-6:30PM and I hate my life.

I can quit the pet store job but I'm a pussy and I want the money.

About 2 years ago when Diablo 3 came out, I basically made 4k dollars in just buying, selling, and mining gold before Blizz banned all 12 of my botting accounts. Then I moved into botting GW2 and KOTOR before I just stop mining completely. Nowadays, I just buy and sell MMO golds for money. I also mine coins, do some gambling in websites, and invest in some real investments for the money. It's not bad if you know what you are doing.

Lol college is one of the least fiscally wise decisions one can make.

1: it does not help you get a better job
2: discriminated against young college graduate is the least likely to get hired between felons, and recovering drug addicts.
3: the fact that you have a degree, excludes you from many part time positions like mcdonalds.

They see you as a flight risk, demotivated and generally unwise.

Those who went to college are viewed as less prepared for adulthood, needing a full 4 years to deal with the harsh realties of the real world

I am not the average effay poster but I work as a bouncer at a nightclub. I make $25/hr plus tips and I literally just stand around and get hit on by drunk girls. Occasionally physically remove someone but it almost never turns into a fight and if it does 7 other bouncers have your back. It's cake. If you are over 6' and have the right body type it's the easiest job in the world. I have no military or law enforcement experience and I got hired. I don't even have a security license.

I go to college for free, scholarship pays for everything and I even get a $200 living stipend per month, I make the rest of my money by tutoring and selling adderrall that i buy by the bottle from a couple friends with scripts

right now Im planning on taking a much needed break from full time school after i finish up my AA (final exams right now). im just going to take a semester or two off before transferring to a bigger university
