Hey /fa/ I was just browsing the old watch thread when it 404'd halfway through.

I finally have a decent job and would like to purchase a nice watch. I have pretty particular tastes though. Something like the picture I posted would be perfect although I would prefer a flat black leather strap.

high-end watches are expensive for the above and also because luxury branding.
obscene-en watches are obscenely expensive because the target demographic simply won't spend anything less, but they do at least try to justify it with exotic materials or building musical instruments into the watch.

I was looking to get a mechanical watch. I liked the look of the Oriental but then discovered it was actually still quartz.

I want to keep it in the 200-400 price range for now since I'm a poorfag but I still want the black leather strap, and an actual mechanical watch with consistent movement.

There's nothing wrong with Miyota as a company. Miyota makes good movements for Citizen automatic and quartz watches. It is possible that the Techne is using a higher end quartz movement, rather than the cheap movements found in ACow watches.

i guess nothing other than quite a few of their models are very similar to Rolexes at least from a distance, it's basically the same practice what Chinese car manufacturers are doing recently w/ already successful European (premium) brands such as Audi, BMW & Mercedes, which doesn't mean that these Chinese cars or Seikos would be bad

Also, let me know how your Parnis holds up in water, i'd love to know. Any half decent watch should be completely waterproof and that seems to be a problem with many budget shit watches like Parnis.

I recommend looking at wornandwound.com, not everything is priced low but gives you some ideas. Not sure what you mean by techie exactly. One example is this Citizen Nighthawk, something you either love or hate. This picture really does it justice. There's also the Techne Sparrowhawk or something posted above somewhere I think.

If you want to go a little crazy you could go for a g-shock 100b (ga100b)

they're quite cheap at ~$98 and you seem to not want to spend too much on a watch unless necessary.

Yes and no. The watches I saw that I sort of liked was the Citizen Eco Drive and the Bulova Precisionist. I'm not sure if there's anything else similar to those.

Fossil, like Invicta, just mass produces watches knocking off more expensive ones, with poor quality. Casio, because of their such low end can have a bad image, sure.

Honestly then look at some of the higher end steel Casios and not plastic Gshocks. Seiko has their own solar models. Searching carbon fiber with the brands gets results similar to your picture. Swatch Irony also may interest you.
