r/mfa/ want to get laid by wearing clothes that make them slightly better than plebs whilst tipping fedoras to one another. /fa/ generally have an interest in fashion for it's own sake, and for more interesting pieces and ideas. Some crossover though, and the hypebeasts and fuccboi's probably outnumber both sets.

The 'le upboat' system on leddit means that people there are mollycoddled due to everyone being overly nice about people's fits, which leads to utterly shit fits not being described as such - which in turn leads to the clueless people wearing shit remaining clueless and wearing shit.

/fa/, on the other hand, is brutally honest regarding all fits posted. There's absolutely no sugar-coating (apart from trips who want you like them) which means people who aren't upset at being called a faggot on the internet can learn from the criticism and improve their fits. If something is shit it's called shit, and the person wearing shit can then buy something better

>> No.7950808

>>7950768
I think people on /fa/ lack a holistic fashion sense. Most people are fairly "educated" on their own tastes and styles, but when it comes to giving criticisms to people of other tastes, they fail utterly.

I agree that lebbit is just a white knight circlejerk of shit. If you even mildly criticize someones fit you get downboated into oblivion. It's like democratic oppression by the retarded masses.

People on MFA give constructive criticism. People on /fa/ shit all over each other and then give constructive criticism.

There's a deeper problem of anonymous criticism, though, and I don't think the assumption that is is necessarily honest because it's anonymous is false.

Like, being anonymous makes it easier to hide your expertise, your bias, and the general value of your opinion. this is in some instances ideal, as it equalizes everyones opinion, but it doesn't make everyone more honest. People might destroy good fits because they are jealous, annoyed, in a bad mood, or just feel malicious. With no way to know where a person is coming form, others might see their false opinion and attribute it as honest feedback.

I'm not saying this, honesty or dishonesty, is necessarily the case from anonymity, but I am saying anonymity does not create honesty. Accounts and upvote organization has lots of (worse) problems.

I hate to describe it this way. Like I HATE that I'm about to use these words. But try to see past the reputation these words have, and to their original core meaning.

/fa/ is hipster
r/mfa is mainstream

/fa/ is more fashion forward, and more about actual fashion
/r/mfa is about going from looking like a socially awkward nerd to a well dressed prep with a financial job. But the thing is, they don't see it that way. They think looking like a jCrew catalog IS the epitome of fashion, and everyone who tries to dress differently is a douchebag.

I would even say that r/mfa is exemplary of the cliched mainstream of which it's become cliche for "hipsters" to talk about. They're people who make fun of hipsters but 3 years later LOVE beards and pompodours.

r/mfa are plebs but think they are god tier.

I do agree with your overall sentiment, but I'll point out that it's a relative thing.

Those mfa'ers in general do look better than the masses of actual peasants one generally sees around one if one is not upper-middle class and above.

J.Crew and all that other crap may be "mainstream shit" to us, but it's still miles ahead of the graphic tees, soiled wife beaters and hoodnigger shit you see out there that garbs the greater unwashed of humanity.

yeah very little "avant-garde" around here, especially in waywt's

pic is an example of what mfa does to the young and retarded - it gets them out of graphic tees, vans and cargo shorts and into more presentable clothing

unfortunately for the young and retarded it means generally that they look even more ridiculous since they're dressing too old for their social context of highshcool bullshit

it's not too bad for them, as they'll eventually get older and whatever bland shit they're wearing will be then acceptable

it also helps the mid20's-30's that are (still!) clueless as to basic, "quality" clothing.

this is where mfa can be usefull, and to what sorts of individuals

however, all that stuff already mentioned about the flaws in leddit's system in general still hold, and are eventually detrimental to any fool that hangs around mfa too long.

if they were smart they'd get the basic info they needed to stop looking like wahtever trash they looked like before they went there to look like blandness, and then leave and begin to add some creativity to their own fits

the worst ones there are the "long termers" - like namefags, tripfags here but worse and with actual reputations and armies of sycophants. .

One is reddit, which is gay.
One is 4chan, which is cool.

Besides that significant difference, there is also good relationship advice on /fa/ and Cool Man Luke posts nice posts on /fa/. I can't say either one of those things about reddit.

>Reddit
>are overly nice and complimentary to outfits that have obvious flaws and poor composition
>talk in a way that evokes bygone eras of gentlemanly behavior instead of talking like normal people

accurate post 3 posts in

/r/mfa are usually more conservative and more behind the trends as well for those reasons mentioned.
This is a good and bad thing, depends on what you like.

/fa/ is just about fashion. There are more homosexual posters here, and more female posters here as well, not gender discriminate although there is a larger male population here. Also much higher standards than /r/mfa

It's a versatile part of a wardrobe, just don't get used to wearing them with everything. It's also almost spring, so we're getting out of Chukka season anyway
