normcore did not exist until someone made up the term in this "trend forcasting" magazine named K-HOLE. Basically a company that profits from generating and disseminating ideas/things for other publications to write about. Soon after the idea was hastily slapped together in some wavey rambling article it was followed by an NY magazine article that "misinterpreted" or was deliberately vague about what exactly what normcore was. It wasn't anything. All of this is to generate pages view, stimulate bloggers, more buzz, more bullshit. I go to uni in south london im on point with ma fashun awareness

You've got your norms, they're not fashion, not at all, they don't care. They wear what is seemingly least appropriate by all dimensions of the fashionable mind. They're also without the other more important features of attractiveness; charisma, facial structure, haircut, posture.
Then you have your mall tier and highschool fashion conscious. They're often cleaner, and smell like some apparel outlet's counter display branded colognes. Their sense of fashion is not especially brand based, but by the demographic each store targets, their wardrobes are often consistent of brands such as nike, element, quicksilver, H&M, timberland, to name a few.

And then you have your obsessive /fa/shionistas that need to go above and beyond, perfecting things, obsessing over brands to the point of paying over retail for collectable old pieces, rarely are their fits a tenth as remarkable as the quality of their wardrobe and the price attached to it.

/fa/ itself is a culmination of many other orientations of style, street, goof, lunar, tech, but essentially the mentality is the same: meticulous plotting and/or ego-driven out doing of everyone else.

Normcore embodies the disoriented spawn of this contrived over stylized world, essentially opting out of style on most levels, for the sake of actually living life instead of emulating one.

the resultant aesthetic where obsessiveness and coordination are no longer present, whereas their original heir of style is (ie hygiene, nice glasses, haircut, regard for health, an appreciable demeanor, a humble charisma)

This is departure from clothing, and a venture into self-awareness beyond aesthetic, inwards.
This is the removal the detestable egotism of youth, and the adherence of humility through the state of our mortal, aging selves.
To exchange the calculations we make about our physical presentation, for a freedom that transcends the shallow paradigm of youthful insecurity.

This is how dadcore killed the goth.

i don't get it. you neglect to mention workwear (unless you tie that in with dadcore, which was only just mentioned at the end with no relevance to the rest). workwear/menswear works to blend functionality and practicality with a pleasing and socially acceptable aesthetic. how is "normcore" even remotely superior to this?
