anything involving the BBK crew is usually fucking ace

terror danjah's old stuff is really good

for new shit Sub Luna City's mixtape is worth a download as is Hawk House's mixtape

probably with grime is the same as all UK underground stuff, dubplate culture is so engrained that often the best tracks end up only being 128kbps youtube uploads

Dude! I love Night People cassettes, although I've listened to more stuff like Pocahaunted, Trash Dog, and Wet Hair. Thanks for showing me this.

As far as what I listen to, lots of Danny Brown. Exclusively a lot of time, honestly. But also Descendants, Bad Brains, Daniel Avery, Jon Hopkins, Alva Noto, My Bloody Valentine, Velvet Underground, Mass Of The Fermenting Dregs, Ulver, Snowing, Shoji Aketagawa, Long Live Nothing, Kengo Iuchi, Jeromes Dream, Gerogerigegege, Boredoms, Captain Beefheart, The Fiery Furnaces, Swans, Sigh, and Darkthrone (off the top of my head, at least)

How'd I do, fah? Destroy me.

PS does pic related look like Double Nickles on the Dime to anyone else?

tbh this, especially @ the trips (lmao)

I don't trust people that don't have opinions on kvlt aesthetics, 90s jungle labels, hnw, eai, or post-war serialism

more seriously, you guys have realllly safe boring taste... so much for dressing uniquely when you don't substantiate it with anything

My taste is a lot more varied than this chart shows. About the only thing I tend to steer clear of is noise and dronish styles. I haven't been listening to as much music as I usually do because college is killing my time to just sit and listen to music. Sucks.

Just come up with your favorite genres is all. I listen to a fuckload of stuff that if I went off on would make me sound like a dirty hipster scumbag. So I just usually pick out a few. "Shoegaze, jazz, art rock is some of my favorite stuff." Maybe even add an album I enjoyed. "Typhoon's White Lighter was my favorite album last year." I listen to a fuckload of stuff. Chillwave, post hardcore, ambient drone, psych, etc.

the conversation is bad because you aren't talking tho lol
just say some stuff that she'd probably recognise that you like
you don't have to exclusively list the avant-drone groups from the early 60s that you have on tape

why don't you ask what she likes?

>> No.7893550

>>7893530

Don't miss out on drone anon, it's quite good.

I used to hate drone til my metalhead friend kept meshuggah on constantly (>implying meshuggah is drone). They play a lot of groovy tracks that are so fucking hypnotizingly repetitive in a good way. They definitely helped me get into drone.

Maybe that'll help break you into the long repetitions

>> No.7893557

A little bit of everything, Queen, Coldplay, the list can go on :)

I'll look into it. My problem with it is I just don't care for eerie music, ya know? Like, I can't put on things and just listen to em if it makes my skin crawl. Getting into something like shoegaze was my major hurdle, because the thick sounds made me uncomfortable.
Now though, I recently went to see MBV and for the first time in my life I couldn't hear a damn thing and I loved it.
