Shit plan. You can't compete in the amateur porn business because there's so much out there for free already, the best you could do is an ad supported site but that will barely cover the costs of hosting the videos, that's why so many porn sites have a shit ton of ads and resort to viruses. How do you like being a teacher and how hard was it finding a job? Did you have to do a lot of extra curricular shit in college?

>>7895854
I love teaching, but it's definitely not for everyone. Finding a job wasn't too hard, I just used indeed.com and called around. I teach at the same high school I graduated from.

When I was first hired it was a lot of waiting around because they have to run background checks and finalize things and yada yada yada. My first year at the school was spent substituting, I didn't have my own classroom or teach my own courses. That was easy, and a lot of dicking around. After that year I got two classes of my own. Next year I'll teach five classes with one off-period.

I didn't do a lot of extracurricular stuff, honestly. All of my extracurriculars were in high school. If you're familiar with something called running start, it's what I did in high school. As a high school sophomore, I left the high school with all my required credits and got started at the local community college. I had 2 years worth of college done before I even graduated high school. From there on it was smooth sailing.

>What kind of person would you say you have to be to teach highschool?

Hmm, let me think.
>be assertive
There's a teacher at our school, Mr. Mutch. Great guy, but he's very meek. If he had to stand up for himself, he'd probably get altitude sickness. Kids in his class BS the homework, cheat on the quizzes and tests, talk during a lecture, etc. etc.

>Have an "I won't be intimidated" personality
I teach in an all-white city. Very little diversity here. Gig Harbor if you feel like looking it up.
There's gonna be one kid one year who's a total fuck up. In his mind he's the realest dude alive, he's covered in tattoos, etc.
For the better part of his life he's been able to kick people around with a nasty glare. You can't give into that.

>Be approachable
This sounds like it doesn't happen often, but trust me, it does. Kids will have some negligible problem plaguing their lives, you need to be the one who can offer some advice and be a voice of reason even if you don't know much about the issue. I teach chemistry and physics, you'd be surprised how many kids think I can be of any help to their problems (don't worry, I help them out anyway)

>don't be easily offended
If you're easily offended or highly opinionated, check that trait at the door. Don't be insulted just because some kid is sleeping your class, don't be insulted because some kid thinks abortion should be legal whereas you think otherwise, don't be insulted if some kid doesn't want to pay attention. Need I go on?

I don't know how to put this into a terse explanation, so get ready to read. Have you ever played go fish with a six year old? You know that maybe you should let him win, maybe talk to him about something he can relate to, etc. etc.

High schoolers are no different. You can easily crush them, but you shouldn't. Indulge them. Let me tell you a story

cont'd

>"Oh, that's a fancy journal you got there, Claesson."
>"Huh? Oh thank you."
>"What do you call something like that?"
>"Oh it's called a moleskine"

That probably made Claesson's day.

Sorry to talk your ear off.

Also, high school teachers really like to complain, but we have it easy. My first year was the hardest because I had to write the lesson plan and everything like that, but other than that it's easy. You don't write a different Chemistry lesson plan every year, you use the same one until it gets outdated or until the state of WA changes it.

Grading papers in class is a good way to do things. The rest? I sit in front of the TV and grade while at home. Easy stuff.

Just wanted to say that I'm studying to be a teacher as well, and you've inspired me.

What were your grades like and how much so they matter? I really screwed up during my first year so my GPA is pretty bad but I'm fixing it, retaking classes to replace my grades, etc.

Did you actually get a teaching degree and did you do student teaching? I'm asking because I'm currently a history major which is what is like to teach. Should I change to a Secondary Ed/History major or can I get hired with just a History degree? Also, if it matters, I'm in the US

I'm not interested in that job and I'm not the original guy, but surely it can't be that hard, I've just had a look and some of the jobs only need a 2:2, that's childs play.

What is the pay like?

not great, you can look up the payscales. start on £24k, top level civil servants can earn up to £150k/year, some more.

it's not about the degree (most require a 2.1 though), there's a 6 month process and something like 1 job for every 750 applicants.

That sounds like quite a harsh process, but £24k is still a good starting wage (especially if you're non-stem like me). Have you looked into jobs with the MoD? I've got a cousin who seems to be doing well there. BAE could be of interest too.

I'm looking to go into recruitment myself, although apprehensive that I'll be around the kind of bellend you'd find on the apprentice.

To be honest, my father has an MA in history from Oxford, speaks 5 languages, has worked in the treasury and private office, and was only given an ambassadorial role in his mid-fifties... also you are unlikely to ever become an ambassador by working in just the foreign office... and statistically no-one is going to offer you consultancy work unless you have a real passion and talent for your job, as opposed to some tacky life scheme that you appear to have devised, why don't you look at the careers of Peter Westmacott or Tim Barrow? You're a fucking idiot
