i've seen a pair owned by one anon that posted here (the only to have actually posted that they own a pair)

iirc they said they were fine

same cupsole construction as cp's and other higher end sneakers, leather outer, leather lining etc.,

has all the hallmarks of one of these so called "luxury sneakers"

more expensive than cp's are lanvin's - are they better made? anecdotally, apparently yes, but since they cost a lot more then whoever's bought them's more likely to say that to justify a purchase

Lanvin is in no way an alternative to common projects, they're a lot harder to pull off, even though it may not look like it.

common projects has produced plenty of awful looking shoes, including the ones youre asking about. the 'court' model was pretty bad and hi-top courts was just a terrible idea i dont know who thought of it but those are among the worst common projects has done. theres a reason the entire court model has been dropped from the line.

Did you really mean to quote my post or >>7888819

either way here's my answer

I don't mind the vintage version of their sneakers, but I think as far as colors go, the vintage version is different enough that you should think twice about ordering one instead of the "all new" version. The tan-ish sole gives it a different vibe and might look better in some fits, as in you can stress it by matching something else with it.

as far as the model, the highs are slowly growing on me but really the mids look especially good (some brands make nice lows and awful mids that look like a mutated version of the lows). Not the case here.

No we aren't; but you need to lurk more until you can see for yourself why the supergas are awful and why National Standard or Common Project shoes are better.

Sure we could tell you how the leather on the superga looks like it has aids, how the sole isn't stiched on but glued on (and not even cleanly), how the silhouette is completely different anyway and thus isn't even really comparable, but you would probably still see it as the same or better for now.

Within a few weeks or months of looking mostly at quality pieces, you won't even remember why you ever thought these looked good.

>how the sole isn't stiched on but glued on
cupsole construction of NS or CP is glued on too, in fact the glue does more of the holding-on than the stitch.
the stitch is mainly there to prevent the sole separating slightly (not completely coming off) from the uppers, like on chucks where they crease before the toe during each step - after only 6 months or so.

dont' get so hung up on the stitching; however, I prefer the cupsole to the plain vulcanized because i'm not some skaterfaggot that needs a more flexible shoe for "sick tricks".

If supergay doesn't have a leather lining then that's another point against them, and, if anything, what makes NS, CP et. al. luxury sneakers and will, to some extent, ensure some longevity compared to clothlinings that begin to rot and fall apart in short order.

My point was yes, the stitching is good to have, but it's mainly the glue that does the job.

Some people have a mistaken view of them and put weight onto cupsole stitches, likening them to the stitches found on proper, welted footwear which is integral to those shoes and is correspondingly strong.

Sneaker stitches aren't like that. In fact, there's plently of sneakers out there with a fake cupsole, and the stitch is just there for cosmetic purposes.

How fucking useless.

As for the actual glue? Who knows. You'd certainly hope that a more expensive sneaker would use a better glue.
