the degree to which its meme status has risen may have been somewhat due to chance, but the humour, for anyone wondering, comes from the way the dialogue is delivered:

Agent: Will you die if I take off the mask?
Bane: It would be extremely painful...
Agent: You're a big guy.
Bane: ... for you.

In what was supposed to just be a good old twist at the end of a sentence, Bane ends up suggesting that he is a big guy for the agent, bringing with it all sorts of hilarious connotations. /tv/ got the joke into the main banner rotation, using an image with the text "4you"

Also the scene is really poor and goofy in some other ways

Like, the sound mixing is really odd because they went back in to make Bane's voice more intelligible than it was in the early footage, but it just makes it seem insane because the other guy's shouting at the top of his lungs (which makes his bizzaro fake American accent even weirder) even though it's not actually that loud

And there's a part where he shoots his gun and you can see that they just dubbed in a gun sound, like the gun doesn't actually do anything and they didn't even put in a CGI flash

My guess is that it was too expensive to redo the scene (since they really blew up a plane and shit to pull it off) so they just had to cobble together a remaster from a bunch of subpar takes that don't quite work together
