Hey /fa/, my girl's birthday is coming up and she's expressed an interest in receiving perfume as a present.

I'm planning on going in to Myer (aussie here) tomorrow, but I have no idea what I'm doing.

Do any women (or anyone really) have any recommendations or tips?

>> No.7810175

Just take her shopping with you or ask her friends. We don't know her.

>> No.7810178

If you've still got time go there and get her to try some things on.

Don't buy perfume blind, especially not for somebody else.

How perfume blends with one's individual scent is unpredictable and can make an otherwise great scent unwearable.

>>7810178

this

also perfume is really particular and something you think smells nice could be really bad to her

>>7810175
This, mate.

It's gotta be something she'll like to wear, and it'll be pretty difficult choosing something like that yourself.

Forgot

What I do is try out a range using cards and then pick my favourite two. Wear them around for a day, one on each wrist.

>> No.7810190

Hmm, thanks guys. I thought taking her with me would ruin the gift idea but I'll see.

For a start, don't buy Chanel 5 unless she's an old lady.

First GIS result for "perfume"

>> No.7810198

Which myer?

The bigger stores have Keiko mecheri, tom ford, costume national

All stores have issey miyake and staple scents like that. However if you tell me where you're from I might be able I point you to some stores with more unique scents

>> No.7810200

>>7810190

If you want to try and obfuscate it just go shopping for menswear at the same time or something.

Also DJs might have some different/ nicer stuff, I know, for instance that they stock Tom Ford's Private Collection, whereas Myer only have a few of the plen ones.

Shit, might as well find yourself something nice while you're there.

>>7810190
You did mention she'd a expressed an interest in perfume to you already; so there's that. It's really not something you want to buy for another person without their input and them trying it.

Get something small/nice/abstracted for as a surprise as well, if you want.

Ebay is Amazon 2.0, you clowns. The fraudsters cleared out years ago; purchase with ease.

Hey Adelaide fags. Watch out for the Civil guys, first choice for middle class students with no idea what else to do.

Make up for their lack of interest in their degree by constantly and loudly espousing their job prospects post uni.

The ones that actually want to be there are gr8 tho.

>>7810258

Try in person buy online.

I'm always worried about ebay tho.

oh nice, what level of Japanese are you up to at the moment?

I'm also doubling my degree with Arts just because I wanted to study Japanese and some other shit, but this year I'm just doing straight engineering cos there are way too many clashes on my timetable. Just finished Jap 2B last year.

it looks like there's a mecca there, ring up and ask if they have fragrances. byredo gypsy water is popular. there's an aesop there as well, and they do two fragrances.

Do you know you can just enrol in a Diploma of Languages?

That said, an Eng/Arts dub might mean that you'd still be able to qualify for full Youth Allowance if you decided you needed to drop back to 3 subjects a sem at any point.

it's basically an australian sephora - they deal with mid to high end cosmetics mostly but the bigger stores carry fragrances which are hard to find in store elsewhere. brands to look out for: diptyque, serge lutens, byredo, cdg. also if you find blood concept anywhere - buy it, it smells amazing.
