Here's my dilemma:

I like Polo (green) because of nostalgia reasons however I've realised that it just doesn't have any staying power on me. Whoosh - gone in >2 hrs.

Thinking of getting either:
Creed's Green Irish Tweed
Creed's Original Vetiver
(tried guerlain's but it smelled strangely metallic on me).

GIT seems to have an element of that muskiness that I liked in polo, but seemed less "brute force", more refined.

Not sure about staying power though. OV I tried really stuck (even after a damn shower).

I've got a citrusy thing already (dior's eau sauvage - perfume version) but it's a little heavy for daytime wear.

I'm heading for a summery country, and would like a summer scent.

Anyone have either GIT or OV like to weigh in?

Would you wear GIT in the Summer? (OV seems prime)

I wouldn't wear GIT. It's too mature. Same goes for Polo Green though.

Now don't get me wrong. I don't believe in those arbitrary age labels you sometimes see people or shops use in review/descriptions. But frags usually refelect their era. And GIT belongs in the 80's, Polo green in the 70's. If you were young in those days then go ahead. Awesome. But if you're below 50 don't.

Or do. It's not my business to tell you what you should or shouldn't wear. I hear plenty of stories of peopl intheir erly 20's being complmented by grils on their Fahrenheit (again, I do actually think Fahenheit fits a young guy now better than those other two do but whatever)

As for OV I think it's boring, but I'd wear it way before GIT. If you want a summer scent try sampling Erolfa or Mileime Imperial. Possibly also Aventus depending on how summery your sumery country is.
If you want to try something other than Creed try Heeley's Sel Marin.

There are reputable sellers on ebay, I've only picked up a few things but they have all been legit (compared to orig bottle I already owned). That said, I wouldn't but anything really niche or expensive brands beacause of the possibility of getting ripped with fakes or old stock. For mall tier stuff at half retail though, no problem. Just research the seller a bit first.

Tom Ford: Tobacco Vanille
Very sweet, almost cloying, tobacco scent dies pretty quickly unfortunately, but I like it. Intense scent. Good signature for nights out.

Tom Ford: Neroli Portofino
Very clean. A little soapy. Should treat me fine in the coming warmer months.

And an attar I don't know the name of that my Omani friend sent me as a gift. Very very clean, very very soapy, very very long lasting and strong. Used carefully, but quite nice if not overdone. Gorgeous bottle too

Tonight I wore a sample that I recently got of Havana Vanille by L’Artisan Parfumeur. It's really nice, but a little too mature for me. The rum scent gave me a bit of a headache at first, but it dries down really nice and turns into a very soft vanilla. Not sure about the projection though, it seems to stay very close to my body. I thought it would suit me since it's unisex and really masculine scents make me feel weird, but it's very leathery and and reminds me of an old university professor or something. Next one I'm going to try is Opus 1870, but I feel like it will be the same story. I usually wear La Nuit du L'Homme, I feel like the lavender and general "purple" feeling of the scent suits me very well, but I want something a little more unique.

not that much; good thing is that you can actually smell them in real life and fucking try it.
that's something people don't think about, is that the essential oils and molecules in the prefume will react with the chemicals compounds of your sweat. From one people to another the same fragance can change remendously and even turn sour or foul.
Of course this tends to occur less with the modern shit sold nowadays that just drowns anything in capitous synthetic smells out of a car's dealer.
My tip is, go in smell three or four of them, after that your nose will be fucking filled with hundreads of shit and totally unable to tell but the strongest less subtle mollecules.
and spray some of the ones you like on your wrist. One on each wrist, and then keep shopping. As time goes by, smell your wrists to see how it stays, how it changes on your skin and at the end of the day you have a good idea. repeat with other fragances until you find one you really like, try it again two or three times on different ocasions to see if it sticks to your feeling, make it smell to ladies around you to have input.
also, cologne is shitty and filled with ethanol.
go for Eau de Parfum or pure perfume.
look up proper brands like Hermes.
