So /fa/, i'm poor and all my shoes are are cheap and shit quality. I have recently got my hands on some money and I want to buy some decent quality shoes

I want a black pair, hightop or lowtop, and a brown lowtop pair that will go with basically anything.
I've been thinking of the drmartens 1461s. Is this a good choice? Will these last me awhile?
I have no idea what to get for brown shoes.

Could anyone recommend me some decent quality shoes? Please keep it around the $100 range. thanks

If I were to get a pair of black derbies (semi-casual) like docs I'd try to spring for some Red Wing Postman's.
Better made than the usual docs.

They're like double the price though, but maybe you can find some on discount/seconds somewhere.

I definitely second the postman oxford if you can find a pair.

Short of that, I suggest checking out different sales. Oki-ni has a large sale going on right now, End Clothing too - as do a lot of other places since we're about transition into Spring/Summer. Gilt does flash sales that could be worth checking out too, just make sure to research the brand first and don't be caught up with how much of a deal they make it out to seem - they exaggerate the retail price as much as possible.

at a lower price range, i think nike flyknits or roshe runs might be nice. they're a bit overplayed though (not as much vans or converses, but you'll still see a lot of 'em). i like them in a simple white/black colorway.

The difference between them and chucks is that chucks are now such classics, and are now really just a generic template that transcend being "played out". Rosh et. al. have not achieved this status and are well and truly, unacceptably, played out.

Depends on the whole fit.
What did you have in mind? (style and colour)
I'm skeptical of the tan ashby in t-shirts, but then it depends on what t-shirts, doesn't it?

As for the shoes themselves, well, I dont know where you are in the world, but the Loake's are on a really wide loake last, so unless you have wide feet or can try them on beforehand then sizing wont' be so easy.

Also, they have leather soles - don't know if you go for that.

I don't know the sizing for the postman (i've never held it) but I've heard that it's not like RW's IR last, in that it's not as narrow, so you'd still probably want to try that on.

Easiest shit? If in the US, get the RW. If in the UK, get the Loake.

They're completely different shoes so I don't even know how you can even think about comparing them.

Does anyone know where to cop the black mono 1461s? The ones listed on eBay are ridiculously expensive (something like $180 + $60 shipping for the one pair I could find), and it's pretty much sold out everywhere else outside of extreme sizes (saw one in UK 3, who even has size 3 feet?)

Or am I out of luck and going to have to wait a while?

>> No.7776689

>>7776474
i usually don't advocate black shoes for casual, but since these are derbies and they have that wedge sole they're about as casual as a black shoe gets.

imma say that the postman's a tad more versatile than the ashby. unless you already have a black, casual derby, (or really want a light coloured brogue for some reason) get the RW.

Still, have you looked at Heschung? They're alsatian, and may have something of interest for you. I hear that they've only just recently started production in india; get the alsatian one's while they're there.

You can look at the english makes on herring, pediwear, shoehealer et. al.

Trickers have a really prominent welt; it really sticks out there, still, some like them and they are very well made.
The "stow" is the boot.

If you can't afford the trickers but like that particular look, look at the sanders' aintree.

Loake have some cheaper brogue styles, same with barker.

American A&E have the dalton, which is a nice, slimmer (relatively speaking) brogue. Probably the only item of their's I'd actually want to own.

You can look at c&j but the price really goes up after trickers.
