So what defines the 00's as a look?

the 80's were ridiculous hair, leg warmers, tank tops, spandex etc

the 90s were slightly less ridiculous hair, shoulder pads and shit.

what could the overall look of the 00's be described as now we are almost at 2015 and able to look back now?

are you still in 5 years ago? it's the 2010s now son

I remember the clean look at the beginning of 2000 was a white tee and dark denim. Boot cut got big for a while among the plebs. The rebirth of grunge and americana is probably the most ubiquitous trend of the 2000s, at least in the U.S. and Japan.

I belive the 90's were somewhat more fucked up than the 80's, though.

Scene kids and emo haircuts.

Decades aren't remembered in an accurate fashion but the most outlandish and eye catching trends exaggerated to represent it. Not all women in the 20s were bobbed haired flappers, not every guy in the 70s wore flared jeans and tassels.

The early 00s were an extension of the minimalism of the late 90s, but darker and edgier. For a time in 2001-2003 it was considered cool for a twenty-something to be actual emo.

The mid-00s had several trends: boho-chic for women, beachcore for mainstream men (puka shell necklaces, flip-flops, Hollister, shaggy hair).

The late 00's was basically just a repurposing of almost everything from the 1980s, something that actually started with scene teenagers and grew to infect every single demographic.

There was no overall look of the 2000s because things now move so rapidly via the Internet and globalization.

um, your stupid skinny clothes for starters. scene hair. hello kitty styled skulls and crossbones, white belts not being worn by old men in florida, diamond cut or brass knuckle motifs. putting big foolish jigaboo plugs in your earlobes. suits that dont fit and look like they have been shrunk. pants with dropped crotches that make people look like they shit themselves

Birth of hipsters possibly.

Whatever it is, it's interesting to note that the 2000's was able to easily look back at other eras and take style queues and parody things, etc. because better information/ retrospective (ie: internet)
