>mfw my accounting firm requires men wear neckties at all times

This wouldn't concern me, but outside of suits (not required most of the time) I don't have any jackets. I'm going to look like a goddamn used car salesman.

you can still look /fa/ in just a shirt and tie. first and most important step is make sure everything fits nicely. then second, you can throw in some fashion colors and patterns

pic might help u with some inspo

>> No.7725929

Try to thrift some for the time being that complement your pants. Save up your first couple of paychecks then get some cheap H&M or Uniqlo suits. Just make sure to tailor them shits. Those suits can go a long way if you're not an idiot and get them tailored by a decent one.

Go to Ask Andy or PutThisOn. They swing more towards suited fashion.

Also, pick up an unstructured jacket, because they look way better outside of a suit.

>> No.7726102

damn man, this is partly why I am afraid to go into economics

I don't want to have to wear lame-ass business formal

maybe I'll just write instead

What. The. Fuck. Even The Elder Statesman isn't that much and it's top quality pure cashmere IIRC. Armani b ripping people off.

GQ shit is always like that, they must get stuff for free or real cheap because every article of clothing they use in their fits is horrendously overpriced

No. Unless they purchase the item (which isn't out of the question), magazines are borrowing items from showrooms, press agents, and even directly from designers.

You can get 4 great cashmere sweaters for that price. If you want something for a business environment get a conservative sweater from a Scottish maker like Berk.

You wouldn't believe how badly dressed accountants are.

I understand when I see a waiter or clerk wearing cheap dress shoes, shirt, and a tie, but I'm always shocked when I see a Big 4 partner wearing square toed dress shoes and a shirt that's not even sized right.

I'm in economics, I know about two other people in my program who are /fa/ as fuck.

The upsides are a) you can be the crème de la crème in whatever think tank you work and b) most adult jobs are going to force you into business formal.

because like most expensive clothing, the pricing was never meant to be purely reflective of the quality of workmanship or material. As Anorak put it, you're buying for the story
or maybe he didn't say it like that but anyways
you're buying the entire thing. The brand recognition, the product, the idea behind it, the idea proposed, the whole schabang.
Also really rich people don't give a shit about it being $2000 and can afford it and trash it without a single care, and that's the people armani sells to. It doesn't even need to last, it just has to look good for a good few months.
Also armani's brand basically says "no matter what you buy from us, it won't look like complete ass", so you're also buying that guarantee.

Ha. There's millions of guidos and try-hards who look awful in Armani. Personally I think the label has mostly been corny as fuck for about 20 years.

no yeah obviously you actually still need some sense but thats what the brand says to people
it's the same with LV and shit

It's hard to believe, but it seems necessary at this point to remind everyone about the various Armani products that exist: Giorgio, Emporio, Collezioni, and Exchange.

Nobody doubts that Exchange shows up everywhere, but I don't think that's exactly what people are talking about in regards to the limited distribution on certain Giorgio and Emporio styles.
