How is a blazer for work half assing it? It'd depend on the dress requirements at work. For example at my work it's business casual which everyone takes as dress pants shirt and maybe a sweater. Or some people do the same but with jeans, some of our departments are more lax than others. I usually alternate between a blazer and a sweater and never feel like I'm half assing it.

There is no strict definition to business casual, in some markets jeans or polos might be acceptable, in others a tie is still expected.

Things are a little more restricted when you are at business formal - dark suit, conservative tie, black shoes (preferably Allen Edmonds).
