>> No.7716398

Really depends on your body type. Some people can pull off a blazer, some can't. They typically work best on slender people. If you have too much bulk, you look like you just got off of work.

>> No.7716428

anytime I see anyone in one of these, it always looks awful.

especially those dudes who try to wear them with t shirts or henleys or some kind of basic. it just looks so "2006 punk rock band"

>> No.7716427

>>7716377
suit coats are never okay unless you are the CEO of a major business.

>> No.7716458

use mfa's blazer fit guide
avoid shoulder pads
make sure it isn't a suit coat

and they should be acceptable
although /fa/ has resentment toward #menswear because it isn't nextlvl enough and you'll be condemned to be called dadcore

>> No.7716461

whta are you going to wear it with. I bought a slim fitted blazer on black friday for 150 and I really have no idea what to do with it.

I put it on a t-shirt and I feel like a tryhard or someone from my chemical romance. I wear it with an oxford or dress shirt and I feel overdressed for all occasions that aren't work. I wear it with pants it looks too dressy, if i wear it with jeans I look like a 45 year old armenian man at a discotech

>> No.7716469

>>7716398
Lol? Blazers look the best on otter mode bros who have wide shoulders and narrow waists.

Honestly most people can't pull of the blazer look, it only works with a tucked in button up if you're trying to dress up jeans.

>> No.7716473

>>7716469
" it only works with a tucked in button up if you're trying to dress up jeans."

that doesn't work at all. god help you if you go to a club looking like that

>> No.7716471

>>7716461

you've got to own it, dude. wear it with clean chinos or trousers of a contrasting shade or colour and leave your shirt unbuttoned. if it fits well, you should be good to go. post a pic of you wearing it, I'm curious now

>> No.7716486

>>7716469
I'm very tall (6'6') and I'm looking for a wardrobe that's dress-casual. I'm not sure whether I should invest in some decent blazers or just stick to the dress shirt/jeans combo I've got going on now.

>> No.7716491

I kinda want a blazer as well, but don't really know what to look for or what to wear it with.

Right now, I'm thinking black unstructured blazer, black-&-white nautical-striped shirt, black skinny jeans, chelsea boots.

But, I mean, I can't really buy an article of clothing with only one possible outfit in mind.

The question is if its for work or events. For work a blazer just makes you look like you're half-assing it and is rarely acceptable.

>> No.7716515

These days, I typically throw on a hoodie if it's cold outside. I'm not too keen on the "hoodie+button down" look though and I think a blazer is the next step in over-wear.

have fun walking around looking like that in a non work or dress environment. you'd look like a clown.

>> No.7716530

If its for work, a blazer isn't dressy enough, if its for anything else besides work, a blazer looks too dressy.

thats my conundrum with blazers

>> No.7716532

>>7716512
How is a blazer for work half assing it? It'd depend on the dress requirements at work. For example at my work it's business casual which everyone takes as dress pants shirt and maybe a sweater. Or some people do the same but with jeans, some of our departments are more lax than others. I usually alternate between a blazer and a sweater and never feel like I'm half assing it.

>> No.7716548

>>7716526
Not at all. You can easily wear it any evening. Granted walking around like that in the middle of the day might be a bit off but no worse than most of what /fa/ recommends.

>>7716516
The media controls fashion trends. Jews control the media.

>>7716532
Wearing a blazer without a tie in a business environment looks terrible. If you're wearing a tie for business casual you're overdressed. If you should be wearing a tie you should probably just be wearing a 2 piece suit and tie, not a blazer.

A blazer is dangerously in the middle of business casual and business wear.

>> No.7716562

>>7716548
I though the difference between business casual and business wear was a tie.

Am I wrong on that?

yeah dude blazers are le dadcore xD

>> No.7716573

>>7716562
There is no strict definition to business casual, in some markets jeans or polos might be acceptable, in others a tie is still expected.

Things are a little more restricted when you are at business formal - dark suit, conservative tie, black shoes (preferably Allen Edmonds).

I wear a lot of button-ups, but not a lot of non-denim trousers.

I dunno, I'm a uni student, so I feel like blazer + button-up would be too dressy. I'd be coming to school dressed exactly like my professors. Maybe if I were a bit more mature and working at an office or something.

is it really worse than your peers wearing a northface because it's nippy? don't overthink it, it's a coat.
Although if I saw a uni kid with a blazer, I'd assume he was bookish or took himself seriously

>> No.7716608

I doubt anyone on /fa/ could pull one off. You need to have good posture to not seem like a 15 year old wearing one. Then there's the guy that wears a crotch drop with one.
