What are the usual import duties on garments if they're shipping to the US? Does it vary on the size/weight?

>> No.7696842

varies based upon value i think

you shouldn't worry unless you're paying over $200-ish for the item itself

i've used fromjapan for 3 things and they came from japan and through customs in less than a week w/o fees every time

>> No.7696845

depends on the item. i've only experienced foreign transaction fee of $1, no duties charge
shipping rate is based on weight of the item

I paid 200 for a coat. Shipping and tax was added on the card charge, but I heard ther would be a duties charge for the item that I'll receive from the postal worker.

personally i'm not sure of the cutoff for the value, as i've never spent more than $125 on an item. let us know what the duties are

For the US, I believe that $200, excluding shipping, is the cutoff. The most I've ever imported is $191, no duties. Many sellers know this, and will price just below $200 and add the additional to the shipping costs.
