People keep giving me stares, and someone told me that i should not wear socks and sandals together. Why? Is it a new fad or something? I been wearing them like that for years, and only got occasional stare.

socks are something you wear to prevent blisters from forming while wearing shoes.

wearing socks and sandals together is both pointless and ridiculous.

People who say "never wear socks with sandals" are the same people who say "never mix black with navy blue!!!".
It's silly mum-rules that people just repeat because they have no real vision when it comes to dressing and can only relate socks and sandals to pop-culture memes instead of really seeing how something looks.
Socks and sandals can be dope, but you need to look like you can dress yourself.

In general though, it's very hard to pull off as a guy because men's sandals already are terrible on average.

Women easily can pull off socks with sandals, as they have better sandal variety.

I prefer wearing socks for warmth, and like wearing sandals better than shoes (I have wide feet). I wear them all year around, except when its snowing. Socks are often worn for heat, especially in winter, at least where I live.

Also men's shoes are boring as hell, and you can wear way more creative/good looking sandals than shoes, same with socks. You can combine different colored socks with sandals, to get different look with each combination.
I usually just go for black sandals, and white socks thought, but I had a pair with metal spikes, that went together with black socks pretty good. The weird ting was that I did not get strange looks in them, but with plain black/white combo gives me more strange looks. I know that I am not all that good with matching colors, but I was thinking more people would do something like that.

if it's cold enough that you need socks for warmth, then you should be wearing waterproof winter boots.

Inside? No thanks. Outside I do. Except in spring and fall. I already have wide shoes, but they still are ill fitting(my feet are almost triangles) if they fit in width, they don't fit in height, and I am too poor to custom order a lot of them.
They are good for cold evenings/mornings.
