Whoever is looking for the paint chipping effect coined with MMM garments, I'll say it like I do in DIY threads very often:
The paint that the maison uses is gesso. It's a very cheap paint (surprisingly) that has a very particularly dried characteristic to it. Other paints could work fine, but if you're looking for a result as close to a Margiela piece as possible, use gesso.

Fabric paint mixed with Paris chalk will give a similar effect with faster wear.

At any point if you want to permanently "pause" the amount of wear, coat your garment in a clear finish.

Hm..

I don't know a lot about that, but I'll offer as much advice as I can. I took a class on that in middle school, teaching me how to use a sewing machine and how to hand sew and it's something that you could never learn no matter how many youtube videos you watched. You might look into sewing classes in your area. Sewing t-shirts isn't too hard but you need to be taught how to do it.

Like everything, practice makes perfect. The more you practice the better you'll get at controlling you lines, getting to know fabrics, knowing when to use certain stitches, ect.
First start out by finding some simple patterns online or beginning patterns at Joanns.
Sewing is fun but it takes some work to be skilled enough to tailor/create your own clothes.

One of the best beginners sewing machines on the market would be the the Singer Esteem 2, which retails for about 130$ at target, but of course you can find ones for cheaper. If you're serious about learning to sew this would be my best recommendation.
As for the material, it is ribbed, but from the picture alone I cannot tell what it is exactly. You should be able to check the tag in order to see which kind of fabric it is. Most likely it's some sort of blend.
Also, I'm not really familiar with hardshell material but from my knowledge it's main purpose is to protect from precipitation. In that case it would be defeat the purpose by sewing into it. If you're doing it for /fa/ purposes, pls post inspo so I can better understand what you're trying to do.

well make sure you have some kind of mannequin or other support for it so that the paint doesn't fold over on itself

I've read you can just wear a t-shirt, then wrap your torso up in duct tape really tight, take the t-shirt off, and it'll hold your form
obviously don't put any tape on your skin when you do this

after that it's just a matter of finding a paint that won't run into the cloth
I don't know anything about paint so you're on your own

I'm looking to make a really basic, thin, double wrap belt that requires very little. Here's what I'm planning:

>Long length of leather, about 2m long
>Get it all neat and treated and w/e
>Rubber cement and stitch (like pic related) the end over, attaching to ring-like buckles to the end
>You now have a belt

I don't know what you call that type of buckle, but you feed it through one way, then out the other. Basically, you have a sweet minimalist double-wrap belt with no need for specific tools, notches or snaps.

Will post a thread next week when I make it.
