Anyways, I know what you are getting at but that's not the way I feel. I get along with all different people just fine and I don't really care how they dress. But I will admit it is sometimes embarrassing if you friend goes out with you somewhere relatively nice and he is wearing sweatpants, bad fitting loud colors and a sports cap backwards. This is something my other non fa pointed out about a mutual friend.

like going into high end boutiques trying shit on and chatting up the younger workers there, ask them whats going on in the city etc... buy something though don't be that guy. If you don't live in a big city then either give up on fashion or move to a big city. I would just go in and present relatable anecdotes and be friendly/cool and chances are they will be more than receptive. helps if you are attractive and actually dress well.
that or way is to actually go out to bars/concerts and hit up cool dressed people and chat about fashion, compliment a piece of theirs, whatever. If you aren't autistic and they aren't an asshole its easy. this is how I met my friends into fashion
