anyone have experience with non US made Frye boots? I know they're overpriced since they're not made in the US, but they seem like they'd be good if they were on sale for under $200

seeing people on sf talk about Frye, they don't have great things to say. ranging from poor quality to just looking bad in person. Zappos reviews aren't as negative, but they're mixed. just curious if anyone here has any experience, positive or negative.

I just got these and I'm still breaking them in. I figure they'll be ready after about two weeks of every day wear. No hikes yet. Leather is stiff and fuck. I'm really shocked at how light they are, actually. For the size of the sole and the heavy leather, I expected more weight. Like, a lot more. They're quite warm too. You definitely want a synthetic liner sock under your wool hiking socks to wick the sweat.

Best things about them are:

Single piece upper (no seams no leaks)
Norweigan welt (even more stability and water resistance than goodyear welt)
double tongue (no way for water to get in)
gore-tex lined (hahaha fuck you again, water)

I figure I'll slather these in wax, clip on some gaiters and rain pants and my goretex shell and I'll be drier than Freja's vajayjay in the presence of men.

Is there a guide to boots. I'm not a regular here just on becuase I want to shake up my wardrobe a bit.

I only wear boots really and have cheap beat up work boots (multiple pairs identical) and boots that are essentially formal shoes but are so uncomfortable and hard to get in and out of I only wear them with suits.

What's a good everyday (preferably brown boot) that looks great but also won't be a burden or have the heel worn down after 6 miles.
