I need a suit for job fairs/interviews and shit.

I'm in the NY area.

I would ideally like to spend as little money as possible while still getting a decent suit.

Suitsupply is probably your best bet. They're the (reliably) cheapest thing you'll find OTR that doesn't make any glaring compromises. If you can afford MTM I've heard good things about that portion of their operation as well.

As someone who wears a suit daily (lawyer) be mindful that a cheap suit is generally spottable across the room by those familiar with formal wear. Consider spending a bit more for something well-tailored and presentable. Personally I drop between $900 and $1200 for suits, but you can easily get a nice one for considerably less.

Oh.... And for the love of god, do not get anything with those ridiculous double-side pockets, as shown in your OP pic. And remember to get the suit tailored, there's nothing sillier-looking than a guy wearing a suit that doesn't fit.

Yes, and relative to the fact your OP has a god-awful hideous suit in the pic that would get you laughed at by a lot of business people, I don't think you have much of an idea of what a decent suit looks like.

Get something basic and unassuming. Banana Republic's probably not a bad idea. Their suits are meh, but they're not awful, and their dress shirts are quite good, especially for more slender people. Most of their ties are awful, but that's a matter of opinion.

The only way to get a good suit for cheap is to be familiar with suits in the first place and to be somewhere like Hong Kong or Istanbul. In lieu of that, be ready to pay more, and be ready to get it tailored. For the love of god, get it tailored.

Oh, and take off the label if it has one on the wrist. There are few sights sorrier than someone who has left that label on.

I pointed out that the suit you chose for your OP was absolutely ridiculous as a caution not to wear something like that. If you can't handle that, fine. I don't care whether it's stock or not, you clearly found it appropriate as the OP pic for a thread about cheap yet decent suits, and that particular cut is cheap and far, far, far from decent.

Perhaps learn the difference between being upset and pointing out awful fashion when its posted. I could care less what you wear, but as someone familiar with suits I'll tell you what to absolutely avoid. That pic is a great example, and so is the type of suit you're hinting at in your OP, something cheap that you're clueless about.
