Hey /fa/

Travelling to China and need a winter coat (from Australia so i've never needed one before)

I really want a Peacoat. I think they're formal, more classy then a jacket but less rapey than a trenchcoat.

Everytime I find one online I like its either not avalible in anything but XXXL ('merica) or unavailable.

Can anybody find me something similar in style to the one on the left, or recommend one? I love the little latches on the sides of the coat arms.

Where in China? A peacoat wont be enough if you are visiting the North.

>> No.7562126

Target stocks quality peacoats and button ups. Go to target and look around.

>> No.7562165

i would go for thermals, a big fleece or wool something and a heavy windbreaker
esp if you're from australia

i get stuff from target, but it's nowhere near quality

Yeah, you'll need something a lot warmer. I'm currently in Beijing and my cashmere coat isn't enough to cut the cold during the evenings. Definitely bring a heavy insulated jacket if you don't want to look like a fish out of water...

You can get 4chan in BJ? What proxy are you using.

I like the design of peacoats, though. Padded parkers and jackets dont do it for me.

Something like this, then?

Problem is i'd really want one with those buttons on the wrists

But this is seriously the only one i can find in my size that isn't XLARGE or sold out

I'm using Astrill VPN. If you are only here for a short time I would sign up for their one week free trial after you get here.

Peacoats are more /fa/, there is no doubt about that, but you wont look /fa/ if everyone thinks you're underdressed for the weather. You could always buy an insulated jacket once you get here if you don't care about getting a name brand jacket.

How long are you here for? Are you going to be visiting anywhere interesting?

Your silhouette will be all fucked up once you layer enough underneath to stay warm.

I'm there for one year Feburary '14 - Feburary '15.

I hear its crispy cold for the few months of winter but horribly humid for the rest of the year, true?

Beijing is bone chilling cold during the winter months and rip-off-your-skin dry heat during the summer season. Not completely sure if it is the same where you are going, I would imagine worse since you are farther North.

I would totally recommend getting a custom made peacoat in China if you have an opportunity to visit a tailor in one of the big cities.

I love this style. Yeah i know pretty much up to this point i've ignored you guy's advice of wearing something thicker.

I wish we could have style with performance but life just doesnt work out that way, so i'll hack it and wear thermals I guess.

With the ebay seller, I love this style, but its $40? Does that mean before I even hop on the plane the stitching will rip into shreds?

Also is there a proper name for the latching of the buttons on the wrist?

ASOS has a good selection of Peacoats that are available in sizes from XXXS to XXXL. Copped this one for $155

I know. I love this one though. However its only available in XL. I'm an 18 year old male about 5'10.

Would XL be way too big? Huge and boxy? Or after 3 layers of thermals/shirt/cardigan and then the peacoat, make it a fine fit?
