Although long periods of starvation will slow down your metabolism that's completely false. As long as you don't start shoveling food down your throat after a long fast you're fine. Of course there are people who break down after starving and binge, which leads to weight gain but if executed correctly a longer period of fasting/barely eating will not make you gain weight in body fat afterwards.
You will gain some ''food weight'' - in case of your stomach, intestines and so forth have been empty for a while of course the food will ''weigh you down'' at first. But it's temporary.
There is also the possibility of water retention. It's very common to consume a smaller amount of liquids while fasting/eating less, which later on can lead to the body retaining water, but that too is temporary.
