well in the dream I was exploring a Victorian mansion with a chick from my school. Can't remember if it was this one girl I spoke to once or one who I'm friends with. Either way they had a black dresses that kinda reminded me of Dick Ovens. with stacks at the waist and an asymmetrical skirt the reaches a bit the knee at the left leg and slopes up to about three fourths don't the right thigh. But I'm not interested in making it because of tfwnogf. But yeah, dream was more then the clothes but I remember looking good in what I had on. I'm sure my outfit was inspired by a combination of a frock less 11th Doctor and the fact that I was told by a grill that I look good in purple.

This being said I'll try to remember what people wear in my dreams and recreate it. Last night I dreamt I was in 'Nam, but we were firing chemical bomblets, so for some reason everyone had bright orange Chen suits over the jungle fatigues but then the SAS came and had smocks resembling Rhodesian camo, iirc with OD field pants.

Sorry for getting off topic, hopefully I remember some of the clothes in my dreams tonight.

not really, you need to know how to properly feed a machine before you start with stretch fabrics or you'll just frustrate yourself.

if you take a serious industry sewing class they don't even start you on garments, or even on fabric, they actually give you paper with lines on it and tell you to sew on the lines, then they move you to sewing muslin squares together, then they teach you things like darting and zipper applique on muslin squares, before they give you simple wovens to construct. if that sounds boring, just get a button shirt pattern and have at it, but expect to decide that it isn't really wearable :)

tbh, it might be a good idea to cop a pattern for like children's clothes so you can do a bunch of them with less fabric, and when you have something you'd actually wear if you fit into it, feel free to take a stab at whatever you like.

the printing i'm talking about is digital, which is incredibly high fidelity and has allowed prints to be done with very small minimums, whereas you used to have to buy a lot of yardage if you wanted custom prints. if you're considering embroidery, it's going to be a lot more expensive and a lot of places will expect you to buy hundreds or thousands of yards; if not, they're doing it on these small machines that are really only for embroidering patches, not whole bolts.

if you're hard fucking core you could research woodblock printing, where you literally carve a stamp and stamp across a fabric.

Its easy to make your own clothes? I mean, i know there are books for that but having the books and the seeing machine, so, someone who barely knows something about making clothes can make at least a pair of jeans? Is it cheaper than actually buying a pair?

depends on what you're making. jeans require a couple of moderately difficult techniques.

it's up to you. the thing is that i can tell you with fair certainly exactly what you'll learn in a class taught by an industry seamster because the techniques are fairly standardized. home sewers come up with a lot of work arounds and i can't guess what they might teach you.

Anybody have any experience adding platforms to sneakers?

I've got an old pair of chucks I want to convert to ridiculous platforms, possibly sloped so I can actually walk in them. What's the best way to go about this and have reasonably durable soles that don't look like absolute shit?

wait about 15 minutes and pull it out a few inches. repeat the process for as long as you want. more you do it, more fade you get. also add a tiny bit more of the dye as you do this.

Fold up to the desired height, then pin through the fabric. Turn the pants inside out and repin from the inside (so the pins heads are on the inside-out of hte pant). Sew along the upper seam. Cut excess off. Finito. That's a lazy man's method but it'll work nice and good for ya :v)

My problem is that none of the bands I like make patches, or have a logo that could be a cool patch.

make patches
draw stuff
rip stuff
sew stuff
paint stuff
dye stuff

write using a sharpie or a paint pen
sketch a patch and google how to hand sew
draw using sharpie or a paint pen
rip your stuff using your hands or scissors
hand sew it back together
paint using acrylic/oil paints on your clothes
dye stuff using rit dye

do you see what im getting at

just look at designer clothing/other DIY clothing for inspiration and use your imagination to create anything you want
