Anyone have any advice or experience with the fratboy look? Need new clothes for spring so I copped some polo shirts, hilfiger shorts, boat shoes, etc. What are some good brands besides polo, vineyard vines, and brooks brothers?

>> No.7518546

why would you do that to yourself?

>> No.7518549

>>7518546
because sorostitutes get wet over it and because I actually like the look.

Try to limit your vineyard vines. It's seen as "trying too hard". RL and BB is pretty much all you need. A bit of J Crew is acceptable as well

>>7518559
very true, I don't have any yet and don't plan on getting more than maybe 1 button down. I like their hats and casual Ts however.

>>7518528
vineyard vines is costume tier
knock off salvatore ferragamo ties is what it is

j.press

brioni and bally are also in this spectrum

everything else you listed is just costume wear of a satirical take on this elitist stylistic choice with expensive casual/sportswear

cool. I'm still going to continue wearing it because I like it. Thanks for the incredibly unhelpful post.

Dont forget to lift.

those look awesome, i'm a bit bulky for them right now but once I cut down I could totally rock them

>>7518998
definitely, I'm in okay shape but made very good gains for 5 months of lifting. I'm going to keep at it until summer then cut to get that strong but kinda lanky look for the late summer and early fall

Grow some balls and join the real world, you peer-dependent little faggot. Sorority girls are no prize and neither is dressing like every other douche in pastels.

everything is relative. if i showed up to a social wearing the stuff recomended frequently on here and the WAYWT stuff, i would look ridiculous. in the "real world" i would never dress like this but if i want to wear it in my house and talk to my friends is it really that bad? everyone acts like this is a personal attack on "good" fashion but in reality it's just the look I want for this point in my life.

seeing other greeks on 4chan is always hilarious

anyway
i agree with the above posts about VV. it's worn by tryhard people who believe they are superior simply because they a greek. it's also an eyesore.
it's like lilly pulitzer for guys. Also pls stay away from croakies.

Brooks Brothers is your best bet, with other things like Southern Proper of similar style. Check out some stuff made by KJP or LL Bean. You want classic American prep.

i'd recommended southern prep as your style, not "frat." Frat reminds me of small liberal art schools in Ohio filled with guys who make sure everyone in lecture to see their letters on their hoodie and backwards cap while they browse TFM.

Good advice, the only problem is I go to school in PA so I looking southern prep is more douchey than anything. Spring is standard shorts, boat shoes, polo look which I'm fine with. Winter is harder because I'm not a big fan of sweaters and ocbd don't fit me very well (I'm 5'8). Ideal outfit in winter would be some kind of boots, khakis or dark jeans, and a nice button down.

/fa/ really isn't that weird lol
it's just more "street" I guess

what makes you think it's weird

may be generic prep wear but Patagonia is always good for winter wear, esp their puffer vests paired with a sweater. Check out Jcrew for good cashmere sweaters, a good shorts/shirts for summer. Bean Boots are ideal boots for fall/winter (I have a pair).
Also see: American Vintage (their boots are good) and Original Penguin for classic styles.

http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=1E02
Some more classic winter wear.

If you're in PA then just look around at brands with strong American lineage/history. Very classic styles, masculine, traditional.

East Coast Prepfag reporting in from Cape Cod.

What you want to look at for a classic american ivy style:

J Press (Mainline and/or York Street)
Brooks Brothers
LL Bean
(some) Patagonia
For shoes other than the above, look into Alden, Russell Moccasin, Minnetonka, Sebago, Allen Edmonds, Bass. Sneakers; tretorn, converse jack purcells, plain vans.

Thrifted sweaters and soft shouldered, 3-button blazers and sportcoats, (preferably with no darts and a hooked center vent,) will look more "correct," as most people who actually grew up with the style inherited a lot of those type of items from our parents.

I went to Tabor and we could always tell who was from a WASPy old money family and who was trying to look like they were.

For more information on how to successfully be a poseur, check out Ivy-Style.com, Unabashedly Prep, The Daily Prep, etc.

Just know that the real prep school/ivy-league set are not going to be fooled.
