OP, you might try looking at styles on one of those black hair websites.
I've been looking for a cute short natural style for a while...Idk, I haven't had much luck, I just have an afro atm.
I think weighing your hair down with alot of conditioners and stuff might give you more options.

OP here. Sry guys, went to the movies.

Sadly my hair has been permed for the last 18 years of my life so I can't go natural anymore. So I can't do afros, crinklepuffs, dreads, etc. But I do like the inspo though; god, if I got a curling iron tiny enough, I could probably pseudo-emulate some of these.

But I was just looking for something kind of shorter than the bob I currently have; I actually had my hair cut like the pic I used here a few years back. But I honestly started perming in first grade so when it comes to natural hair, I'm all kinds of lost.

OP would you be completely against shaving you head and starting over? I think black women so elegantly wear very short hair, and plus this gives you the opportunity to grow back your natural curls.
however i dont know how difficult it is to work with your personal type of hair. i know some people have very tight hair and some people have loose frizzy hair, ect, so wearing it natural may not be an option even if you put oils and shit in it

im very curious about how black girls feel about wearing their hair like "white women" (relaxing, wigs and weaves)

Not the OP, but nothing is wrong with it. My hair is natural and I haven't had a perm in 2-3 years.

I'm going to go with the reason that people go for straightening is that they find it more attractive, how the it's portrayed in the media/peers and that it's a bit more manageable.

The worst part, for some African American women is that they forget the hair they're born with.

Sadly I don't think I'd know what to do with my hair if I started from scratch and tried natural. I started perming my hair when I was six, so I really don't know what I would do with it being natural. I'm also not thin enough to make bald look nice and my hair takes a while to grow, so I'd be really weird-looking for a few years.

My hair is very fine so it's thin and easy to work with when it's permed. It also curls very easily and works well with heat, so I usually just flip it with a curling iron in the mornings. When it was shorter, I'd play around with it a little but mostly just gel it down. When it's in need of a perm, it curls up really quickly but it gets really thick and annoying to manage, so I guess if I went natural I'd be dealing with thickly-curling thin strands.

Look through the descriptions to figure out where you fit and then google that.
You will find all sorts of resources dedicated to caring for and styling specific types of hair.
