I figured this would be the best board to go to.

My hair's really thick, and usually in good condition, but recently it's started drying up and tangling easily. I was brushing out a knot this morning (with a miniature brush similar to a tangle teezer) and 3 inches snapped off the ends from my left side.

WAT DO. I've been trying to grow it, so I don't want to get it cut so much, but that's an option i'd take. Any advice though?

post a picture of it

My brother finished my argan oil shampoo, so I started using baby shampoo.

I'm staying at my aunts now, and she just has pantene 2 in 1, which is drying as fuckkk

>> No.7496691

went 2 weeks without it and didn't really like the results
the oil balance is nice but it was a bit straw esque and not as wavy as I like
back to happily using both

Not using shampoo just sounds gross. Using baby shampoo weighs it down enough, so I imagined that using no shampoo at all would just be disgusting.

you get used to it

http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/browse.php?category=shampoo&showmore=products&start=0&order=webscore+INC

but try using a shampoo & conditioner with less things in? it will probably improve the health of your hair

what am I looking at.

By less things, you mean not brimming with sulfates and silicones, right? I try

yes, that website lists shampoos with little chemicals

I have long hair and I only use a natural conditioner with no silicones. Coconut oil every 1-2 weeks.
No poo.

shitty picture but it looks like that one awful haircut. i don't even know how to describe it but it's like a short spiked widows peak cut. shave more off the sides and let it fall more naturally i suppose.

Meh, the bitch just overdried them, that's why they are spiky. Will do a buzzcut next time

I look like a kid with longer hair, and my face is less ehm, manly. I was going to grow hair to make that combed back slick hairstyle but decided not to.

awesome~~

I have coconut oil, but rarely use it. Should I apply it as a mask then wash it off, or apply a small amount to the ends before blow drying? Dafuq do I do with it.

This is OP btw, the late reply is because I went out

ayden pls go

You should apply it as a mask. Put some in your hair, wait half an hour or more (or 15 minutes if you blow dry it), and then wash it out several times.
It can make your hair super soft, but if you don't wash it all out then it will just look greasy.

i just put some through my hair and let it be greasy for a day or so, when i have nowhere to go.

Have any of you ever gotten a barber that constantly tried to give you advice / wouldn't give you the cut you wanted?

So does anyone know some legit organic shampoo/conditioner that isn't crazy expensive? I've got long hair so no poo didn't work at all. I currently use pic related which is better than regular shampoo and conditioner, but according to >>7496704 it's still got some shit in it, and I'm not ready to dish out $30 for 8oz of shampoo.

yeah i asked for a three on the sides and back and to leave the top longer. he was constantly talking about how i should go either really long or really short and he wouldn't shut up

Not op, male here with hair problem as well. I have very thick but fine (I'm sure there is better terminology, but high-density, but fine strands). I've been letting it grow out so I could try some different things, but at the current length (just about 4 inches) it pretty much just stands straight out. If I brush it while wet, it stays down. But once it drys, if I run my hand through it *poof*. pic related. I've never really used any sort of 'product', could I get a recommendation on something that would just give it a little weight so it would stay in place. I don't want something that is so thick and hard it looks like I polyurethaned my head. Does such a thing exist?
