so we're not in disagreement. what i'm saying is no one produced shoes like that until common projects. and the market has only recently caught on. everyone else made something but branded their product, put on some contrast stitching or cut corners.

just because the design is absolutely minimal doesn't mean its available everywhere. the world of fashion has caught up in recent years, but back in 2007, 2008 when common projects just started up this kind of shoe was hard, if not impossible to find. that's why the company was successful at all, because they basically have their market cornered.

same with backpacks until companies like altadena works or visvim started making things. the only backpacks you could find were loaded with unnecessary details, mesh, piping, panels, branding, etc. jansport of course offered their cheap product but it was still branded and small. that's why one pays for design and not necessarily quality.

that's why you have thirsty fuccbois asking here all the time, "where can i find this nice-looking thing but for cheap?" very often you can't find it cheap and that's why its expensive in the first place. supply and demand.

I don't really agree with your opinion about chucks but I somewhat agree with this. When leather isn't made more casual looking (like being perforated or maybe pebbled in some cases) it looks "fancy". It looks like someone took materials that were meant to go into a dressy shoe and made them into a basic sneaker instead. Especially when the leather has a shine to it. It just looks awkward.
