The K-43 I bought cus I was actually surprised at the build quality of the $60 Amfibia so I decided I'd trust a higher-end model from the same compbay. Plus I wanted something with a white dial

Also I hate roman numerals

Guys, I said it was a "Raketa Copernicus".

Raketa is the manufacturer. It is a famous Russian watch company.

The model is called "Copernicus", hence the sun and moon design.

Look at alternate Eastern spellings like, Copernic, Kapernik, etc.

For a watch like this, you should only spend upwards of $70. Nothing more. Heres a link:

Unfortunately there isn't much out there that is affordable, unique, and not some retarded fashion brand that isn't a real watchmaker.
Raketa has several old models that are all unique, Poljot and Vostok has some interesting vintage ones too. There's other Russian brands like Luch, Pobeda, Slava, and so forth. Raketa's newer stuff is among some of my favorites but they're much more expensive.
Seiko has a ton of models you might find something you like, such as all their divers, but other brand vintage divers too that aren't copying Rolex.
Sea Gull and some other Chinese brands have some dressier but unique designs.
Few other brands to throw out: Mondaine, Obris Morgan, Bathys.

No they aren't. The whole point of a wristwatch is that it is strapped to your wrist, and you don't have to dig in to your pockets to whip out a pocket watch. So basically in this context that cellphone of yours is just a very high tech pocket watch. Why don't you get with the times and get a wristwatch, old timer.

No but seriously, were you an employed person, you would know how convenient a watch can be. Fishing for a phone to check the time in a meeting? You come across like a rude little child, lose your client, money, your coworkers respect and your job.

>> No.7417079

This.
If you do not wear a watch then you are at a disadvantage when compared to those with one.

But one thing about using your phone during a meeting. It isn't rude. It helps to convey to the other people in the room that you do have other business to attend to. Its a power game, step up.

Otherwise I agree though.

1 swift movement and a quick glance isn't only more convenient but actually looks better instead of fumbling in your pocket for your phone.

Shit, you really want to have a childish argument? Fine.
>hyperbole
1. obvious and intentional exaggeration.
2. an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”

So, in this case when I stated that "Fishing for a phone to check the time in a meeting? You come across like a rude little child, lose your client, money, your coworkers respect and your job." I obviously didn't mean anyone would lose their job for checking the phone, but simply wanted to illustrate how important impressions can be in a professional environment. Checking the time on a watch gives a much better impression than constantly playing with your damn phone. And you would know this if you had a real job.

> you're exaggerating like a complete fucking fool

People bash Invicta because they pretend to be Swiss and use mostly Japanese and Chinese movements, and for their ridiculous price inflation + "sale" marketing gimmick. And of course because they're hideous manhole cover-sized pieces of kitsch.

Seiko is a true innovator in the timekeeping world. They blazed the trail for the quartz-dominated market you see today. They make great quartz, damn near the only decent affordable autos, and have something for everybody.

>> No.7424202

The Swiss made the decision a long time ago to focus on unreasonable amounts of labor intensive geared mechanical garbage for the sake of steampunk, e.g. the gyrotourbillon.

They knew that once quartz was out it was all over, and they made the right move. You can ogle gears easily, and get an emotional feeling from looking at them. You have to go on an autistic diatribe to express the concept of Spring Drive and most people will just glaze over. It appeals exclusively to unabashed neckbeards.

Personally I think Spring Drive is an awesome idea but at this point there is no real reason for anything but a 32khz quartz oscillator that costs $1. These "innovations" exist because they are cool, not because they offer a real practical benefit.

Not everything. For some reason the Japs decided that their entry level watches all need to look like shit. That's why German entry level watches are so popular among /fa/ people, and even Swiss. There are lots of beautiful German and Swiss watches available for around $1k, but what does that get with Japan? A butt ugly Citizen Exceed or maybe an Orient Star.

Nice internals are great and all but some companies apparently have decided on a checklist based product line. Kind of like software companies disabling features on the lower level product because the R&D money was already spent and it's cheaper than risking losing sales on the higher end product.
