So what's the difference between this and a tee from something like Topman or ASOS?

>> No.7395475

About £460

This one has a brand name on it

>> No.7395480

nothing

>> No.7395483

The difference is that it was designed by Alexander McQueen. No one is forcing or even asking you to buy it.

you cant afford it

Yeah, because that's a totally reasonable analogy...

McQueen is one of my top face designers but he was never really about his menswear as opposed to his women's.
I would not but that shirt

>> No.7395546

Cut
Quality
Design
Branding

Does it justify the price? Its subjective. If you don't want to pay that price then don't. Don't expect as good of a product from a cheap brand but also don't expect the price of designer brands to be completely relative to quality.
For the most part, people are paying for the brand. That doesn't mean designers just slap their names on any old tee shirt and jack the price up, there is still much more thought in in than a mall tier brand.
If your goal is to buy a cheap t shirt, then buy a cheap t shirt. If your goal is to buy a designer t shirt, then you're going to have to buy a designer t shirt.

>> No.7395573

postmcqueen a.mcqueen is bullshit and completely fucking irrelevant.
designer brands are overpriced because they want to keep the exclusivity level high.
of course the mcqueen shirt is still very different from a topman tee in terms of quality ect. i dont own any mcqueen stuff myself, but with many other high tier designers there are a lot of details in the construction and cut that help improve the fit of the shirt. (eg the balenciaga and diorhomme tees i own have darts and similar advanced construction features

at the end of the day its just money and everyone has to decide for themselves what they want to spend it on. maybe you like cars more than clothes and buy your tshirts at topman, maybe you have no taste and like the awful mcqueen graphic tee from ops pic or maybe youre like me and value fabrics and construction even on basic tshirts.

The thing is, the difference between that price and a 5 dollar tee is obviously huge. The difference between that and a forty dollar tee is basically negligible.

The exorbitant price comes from the brand and the narcissistic dipshits who think they're better for wearing a $500 tee shirt

>the difference between that and a forty dollar tee is basically negligible
this is untrue, unfortunately

>> No.7395610

>>7395594
If you put a 500 dollar tee and $5 one on someone and didn't tell them the price/brand they could tell the difference. If you did the same thing with a $500 and $50 tee I guarantee you everyone but devoted designers couldn't

>> No.7395616

darting is not an advanced construction technique

lol

Not to mention different people like their fits different.

At the end of the day you have to realize this is a fucking t-shirt, not a suit or tux or something

>Cut
not really
>Quality
not really
>Design
The design is mediocre, so not really
>Branding
That's the only reason

>> No.7395649

i dont own any 50 dollar tees, but i can easily tell the difference in fabric between my acne tees and my dh or slp tees, even with the 100%cotton ones.
not defending their pricing here, im just making clear that theres no magic maximal quality level for a cotton tshirt at the stuff you can get for 50 $.
you also have to take into consideration that there are fabrics, cuts and construction involved in many designer tees that you wont see anywhere else for less money (silk or cashmere blends, advanced construction, embroideries ect

>> No.7396214

tees are also a thing that designers sell to people in order to make money so they can make crazy designs/cuts/fabrics that might lose money but make the brand unique/interesting.

>> No.7396262

There's nothing 'designed' about this tee it's quite obvious that you pay for the branding it's like a souvenir I'd say - to show that you know who McQ is and that you like him probably. That's what my friend told me - he doesn't like McQ menswear but he likes the designer himself so he's got one of those tees to have something with the designer's name on it maybe it's retarded I don't really care. These tees are made from a really nice soft cotton thouth gotta give it to them. I was pretty sure they were less than £120 not £400+ w2c a £460 McQ tee.
