I've got 2 asos oxford shirts, they feel like cardboard, but the fit is nice and great for layering. MEH. I've ordered one oft heir wool-mix skinny cargopants just to see if the quality is any good and if it's actually warm (it won't be).

Honestly, I cop shit from H&M/Zara/ASOS more than often, simply because I'm not careful with my clothing, nor do I want to be. Imagine painting often and having to change outfits every single time you want to work on a piece. It's shit and throws up a massive barrier.

I can settle for mediocre/shit quality as long as it looks good. I just never feel like dropping big bux on something rick that I know, even though I'll love it, I'll completely ruin sooner than later.

My wardrobe is probably like 95% designer. I've got a couple of Uniqlo and Muji basics but that's it. I just treat it like a hobby. Trawling through BST threads, Ebay, Yahoo, etc for good deals is all part of the fun. If I didn't collect clothes I'd probably collect something else. I don't have any other expensive hobbies.

I also socialize with a group of people that react positively to designer clothes. If i turn up wearing an Undercover Coat or Raf Bomber we talk about it for ages. It's one of our main shared interests.

Expensive clothes also look better and DO last longer. People always say they look the same but the difference is how they age over time. I Zara shirt is gonna look like crap pretty quick while a Margaret Howell one is gonna look better and better with age.

THey do also retain their value. If you buy 5 Uniqlo shirts you're not gonna be able to resell them. If you just spend that money on one CDG one you can sell it again for the majority of what you paid for it.

Exclusivity is also a major factor for me. I actively enjoy wearing clothes that most other people cannot afford. And obviously the designs are important. It's probably true that my opinions of pieces is skewed by the designers but if i say, wanted to buy a jacket with a leather body, sweatshirt material sleeves with zips attached, 'she brings the rain' written on the back and 'the can monster movie' written on the front, where else am i going to be able to find that?
