I already have a speed master, but where can I get a leather band like this one?

>> No.7270018

>go to watchmaker's shop
>ask them ro show you leather bands
>choose, pay and have it put on

not hard

Dunno about that particular one.
But a nice pilot watch strap is the Hirsch Liberty.
Comes in 3 colours and is nice and thick.

Great strap and the the dark brown and honey brown varieties work very well on a silver/black dialed watch like the speedmaster

i got mine for $100 + shipping from this nice woman in i think it was poland?

bespoke, you tell her the width, the material and the color of thread (i chose black/cotton) and what leather to use (i chose horween shell cordovan #4 oxblood) and the type of band (chose nato)

looks amazing in person
i can fetch you her email if you want

takes like 3 weeks

7270714

the only draw back is, horween;sbrand stamp

they use this green ink material on the reverse side of the hide

and sometimes the ink rubs off on your arm
only occurs in hot days for like the first week

that's not her fault, thats more a problem with horween's shell cordovan

This is definitely overpriced.
Guy from Croatia does the same job for cca. 200-300kn which is about 40-50$. Straps are highest quality a strap can be.
Who the fuck would give 100$ for watch strap?

Here's the facebook profile of this guy: facebook url /CloverStraps

Perhaps, perhaps not.

But if all he
>>7270714
puts it on is that Orient then that strap costs the same as the watch itself.

Not really worth it unless he can fit it on multiple watches.

What are you guys thinking that leather costs 1k per sheet? Enjoy getting ripped off.

For a watch strap everything more than 40€ is too much, even that is too much but every good strap maker is being jew about price because everything cheaper is shit.
I would consider putting 100€ strap on Patek or some really high end watch like that but on a fucking Seiko or Orient i wouldn't give more than 20€ for a strap.
You can buy a fucking belt for that price.

Tho' I do have Junghans OEM strap on my shitty Skagen that is falling apart.

orient was round $210 shipped
strp was $100

about half price

a bit misleading imho
one of his pictures there is a PVC backing to his "leather strap"

Ah. I guess you bought it from an authorised retailer then. I've been finding them for about 115/120 or so.

I tend to agree. However, to each their own.

i bought it from the orient website
why wouldn't you buy it from an auth retiler though?

that is the first thing i learned from watchuseek ALWAYS AD.

>>7272649
it doesn't make sense on a plastic movement seiko 5 that retils for the price of timex

but band that doesn't do your $350-500 seiko justice

Those guys tend to over exaggerate things.

I'd be inclined to do so with something costing over say, 800 bucks. But with less expensive watches? I'll risk it.
Besides, the seller I used (skywatches.com.sg out of singapore) was fine.

I suppose if you're in the US or something there is the issue of customs taxes and potential return shipping if there happened to be a problem, but I live in a neighbouring country so it's not such a big deal for me (and the shop was helpful enough to provide me with a doctored customs dec.)

What's the failure rat OOTB for Orients, anyway? Pretty low, I'm sure.

I guess since I got my mako for 110 bucks a few years ago I just don't value it enough to spend another hundred++ for just a strap, especially since the bracelet's been doing a good enough job.

idk, man ive heard grey market DOA horror stories

why not just pay $20-40 more for a watch with warranty?

i have the bespoke cordovan band, a corvus real bond nato and oem.

its not like my bands are one watch use

if i happen to fall in love with another wide lugged diver i'll slap them on that.

ive spent a few hundred dollars in bands in what is it 6 years?

i even have that selvedge one too so
it's not like im spending too much

i used to have a lot of high end watches on here in late 2009

i bought and flipped watches started with junk like fendi/tag heuer/broken cartier tank, piaget, and early omega

/fa/ laughed at me but im the one sitting here with years of watch experience that they will never have. met a ton of cool dudes on WUS so no regrets

>why not just pay $20-40 more for a watch with warranty?

Because I wouldn't be paying just $20-40 more but over a 100 where I lived. The dealer had their own warranty besides.

I saved $100 compared to what you paid, without the manufacturer's warranty that I judged I would not be needing. That being said, the watch I got came with box and papers; can't remember if the papers were stamped or not. It was a cheap watch, and I just decided it was worth the risk to get it even cheaper.

When it finally needs a servicing I'm just undecided on what I'll do with it. On principle I would prefer to get it serviced - it has provided thus far 4 years of pretty loyal service. However, if the servicing costs the same as it would to get a new one, well. Most likely thing is that it would just sit in a drawer as I've got other, nicer watches to wear.
Money just isn't as easy to come by these days that I could just sink whatever cost into a cheaper watch's servicing as I only wear it when going to the bad part of town.
