Black is actually a shitty color to wear. It absorbs light and it's hard to show off texture. You can't just wear all black and one bright color piece; there's too much contrast and it ends up looking dumb. Anytime you wear black you're probably better off wearing dark blue or dark brown or dark green instead.

Any neutral will take on the color of the light. Grays have enough color that it doesn't matter, but black has no color and ends up looking dingy under the warm color of artificial lights. You need some blue to compensate and achieve an actual black.
