Here in Japan they sell transparent umbrellas at convenience stores for 100yen. This is the first I've ever heard about them being "girly." I've even taken my cheap umbrellas to other countries and nobody has questioned my sex.

I saw an umbrella once, I *think* by a Scandinavian company but I'm not sure, that had a carrying strap set up so it'd hinge like a rifle on your shoulder.
