To Iron Ranger owners, how long did it take you to break them in? Im trying to decide between IRs and 1000 miles and while i think the IRs look better on me the 1000 miles are 5X more comfortable

Pls respond

>> No.7169870

Bout week or two. Treat them with some boot oil out of the box to ease the break in process, you never know how old the leather is, and how long the boots have sat in some warehouse somewhere.

In the same boat OP, did you decide on a color yet?

Part of me wants a black boot but also would love the color of the Cherry IRs.

The 875s are also on my mind but think the IRs can go with more fits?

red wings tend to be brutal out-of-the-box but they will break in significantly

speaking of brutal break-in periods, I made the stupid mistake of walking around the block to break in my new danner boots. That was on the weekend. My feet haven't recovered enough yet to try them on again. I'm hoping to wear them around the house by the weekend, and get back to breaking the fucking things in more

the life lesson learnt is never stray from your house in new boots, because you never know how quickly it might turn into foot torture, and you need to get home somehow

I'm sure most of you are smarter than I am and have not made this mistake yourselves

The 875 is a cool boot to have when your collection gets bigger, because it has a unique role to play.

The Iron Ranger is more versatile and might be better if it's your only boot. But if you get any other boots, it might take the back seat, I think.

That's how I see the difference between them.

>> No.7170103

hey op if you wear an 11, i can sell you my iron rangers for $200, i'd rather them go to an anon then some fuccboi on ebay, tbh.

barely worn, sno-sealed, and mink oiled - they don't fit because i didn't size half down.

On amazon, that one which lists "copper" as colour. Is it Red Wing Iron ranger style 8115? I just want to be absolutely sure before buying. Or is there any other online retailers with global shipping that has them in stock?

>> No.7170174

10% student discount on ASOS - or 10% cashback on Quidco brings them down a bit.

Plus shipping and tax for a pair of boots from the US will probably make it as expensive. And if you want to return it you're fucked.

gonna exchange my 875's for some iron rangers tomorrow. 875s look great but i dont dig it with skinny pants. i understand the ir's fit slimmer, what should i be looking for when trying these on? do i get the same size as my 875's ?

Are these (Rogue Territory Stantons) decent cut wise to wear with boots? Also should I get black IRs or something else? I'm a big dude (6'3 190 lbs) and wear size 12-13s so I really wanna get into Americana.

I ask because I'm updating my whole wardrobe over the next 2-3 months.

look at fit guid and a 6 inc foothole is good for boots. Anything over is not that good. 16 1/2 is fine cause I have some raws with 16 1/2 leg opening and it works fine with boots but a bit too big on high top slim sneakers.

OP here decided on 1000 miles in the end. Bloomingdales had a 30% off sale and I decided the IRs were too clowny and uncomfortable so the choice was obvious. Im 6'3'' and they dont make my feet look huge.

I love the hi top boot look. But I live in a warm climate. Would malis therefore be a better option? I like how they look with the low profile as well. Obviously they don't have the same depth of color as irs but I could get a black, grey, and beeswax pair for the price of irs and they're still clarks so they're pretty good, right?

mine were comfortable right out of the box. two reasons:

1) get fitted. few people really know their shoe size, and all companies run different. i don't care if you live in shitsville, usa, wait until you can go to a store and get a pair that fits perfectly.

2) wear good socks. i pretty much only wear mine with wool blend socks, and its the most comfortable thing ever. when i do wear cotton socks (even decent ones), it's definitely not as comfortable.

they are a great pair of boots, i'd recommend to just about anyone
